I would personally hate to see AMD go down, mainly because the competition they've provided Intel with is arguably one reason we have the Core 2 Duo. If Intel didn't have a good reason to release a newer, faster processor, we all probably still be using NetBurst. That said, I think AMD is very far f...

Keyboard question...
Does anyone know of a keyboard that has the following features:
1. Backlit
2. Mouse connects to keyboard (sort of how mac does it) - I hate cable clutter!
3. Preferably ergonomic
4. USB (no PS/2)
5. Preferably "quiet," although that may be asking for too much.
?
Any advice welcome.

A semi-related question: have you considered Ubuntu ? It's free to try, and it has OpenOffice, Firefox, and a whole slew of applications for photo viewing/editing. Before you drop the cash on a new copy of Vista, you might consider giving Ubuntu a test-drive for a couple of days to see if it meets y...

1. Will I notice the improvement if I upgrade the amount of memory? This system is only used for typical home applications (MS Office, Internet, light photo editing), nothing high-load/high-speed (i.e., FPS gaming or video) applications. I doubt it. If you're just using the system for basic computi...

Link to the bill in question, just so we all know what we're talking about. Tomshardware has an article about a proposed California tax on gas guzzling vehicles, and I decided to come to this forum, where I've seen a good base of knowledge. I'm all for reducing pollution and better fuel efficiency,...

Hey all, I'm looking to get a nice HDTV for my apartment...I was thinking somewhere around 36" or so. I don't need it to be LCD or plasma, just something with good quality and that can accept HDTV signals. 1080i and 720p, preferrably. Anybody know of any good ones below $1200? Below $800? Thanks If...

Just out of curiosity, you are already carrying a cup, why not buy a thermos for your coffee and make it at home, that would save you more money. I just recently bought a 0.4l Thermos just for this purpose. When I make coffee at home, I usually make something like 0,75 liters at a time, that's like...

If you want to get upset about people being wasteful of resources, paper usage should be VERY low on your list. It's about the most renewable resource there is and is generally produced with little enviromental impact. I'd get upset about plastic being used in place of paper (being non-biodegradabl...

3rded about the PSU, though I'd disagree about the 7300GT - performance is similar to a 7600GS and (if you're so inclined) they overclock like crazy, almost but not quite up to 7600GT levels. Still, if you're not playing games, what do you need a discrete GPU for? Two 7300GT cards in SLI, overclock...

My personal peeve along these lines is when people purchase coffee and get a paper cup. I always carry a mug in my bag, which generally earns me a discount and prevents the wasting of paper. The first thing I'd suggest is considering a swap to the Seasonic S12-330. It'd save you $60, and you could either pocket the difference or upgrade your video card a bit. Even though you're not a gamer, the 7300GT is a bit anemic for my liking; something like this would open some doors for a system ...

Re: Questions about x64 Vista
I'm a bit confused about what is required for 64 bit Vista. 1) What is required for 64 bit? If you have a 64 bit processor such as E6600 is that enough? Or are there many other factors to take into account? Yes, you'll need a 64-bit capable CPU, and that's pretty much the only criteria. I've run Vi...

Lowest power PC available?
What is the lowest power PC (laptop?) available? I need little or no CPU power (something equivalent to a P2-300 would probably suffice), but it needs to draw the absolute least amount of power possible and have at least one USB port. The cheaper, the better. I don't care about screen size, RAM, vid...

I would use the word "sensationalist", people dont take any notice if its not.
