the original poster was talking about software UI. As for the box design, it probably doesn't matter how ugly it is if you know what you're buying beforehand. If you're the type that walks into a B&M store without a clue what you're gonna buy, box design matters. Sure, brand X with ugly box may have...

the mere fact that there're very few Phenom threads on SPCR after the official launch of Phenom is disturbing. Never mind the fact that Phenom doesn't work on 99% of AM2 motherboards out there, there hasnt been any Phenom undervolting posts yet! No one seems to have any idea whether the Phenom works...

Isn't this a feature of the processor instead of the mobo chipset? You just need an Athlon X2 or C2D 6xxx. Not too sure about mobile processors though. Yes, but it has to be enabled in the BIOS (much like Cool & Quiet needs to be enabled in the BIOS) i've enabled hardware virtualization in VirtualP...

Re: Virtualisation support in Nvidia chipsets
I'm looking to replace 2 machines with just one which runs Linux as host OS and Windows as a guest using virtualisation. For low power and good support in Linux, I'm looking at motherboards based on the Nividia 7050 chipset such as the TF7050-M2 from Biostar. Could anyone with a motherboard with th...

I know that a few of the site regulars that fold for the SPCR team are using VMware, as you can get more folding points running the 64-bit SMP Linux client on a virtual machine on windows than running the windows client. (There is no 64-bit Windows client available.) Which virtualization software s...

Nice build. I have a kinda generic question for you - why did you go for a black DVD-RW instead of silver? Was it because it's difficult to get a silver drive that actually matches the colour of the 2480? Edit: One other thing - you mention a AMD A64 x2 3800+ Windsor, 65W, but the photo shows a 500...

My experience with recent DVD burners. Level of vibration is determined by whether the noise is reduced when I press down on my Antec Sonata v1's front door. DW1655 - Noisy + whine at 16x read. Minimal vibration. LG H42N - Very Noisy at 16x read. No whine. Vibration very bad. Sony DRU830A - Noisy at...

an default-overclocked MSI 8800GT consumed 10 more watts at load than the Palit 8800GTS. I've no idea whether the 8800GTS is overclocked or not.

What Bluefront said, and probably a bad PSU too. In any case, the Zen300 is a bad choice for that setup, since the motherboard draws +5v for the processor. The voltage regulation on recent PSUs favour heavy +12v loads. For that AXP setup, the +5v rail voltage will be too low, and the +12v rail too h...
