These people should be pissed at scanner companies, and not MSFT. He can find it "inexcusable" all day long, but it isn't going to make a closed-source, proprietary driver that runs on Vista pop out of thin air. I can now confirm that my scanner does not work Vista. I'm not personally mad at anyone...

Well, it's been known with DX9 that the GPU rules the roost. But, also that you need to have a bit of speed with the CPU due to the inefficient way DX9 works (lots of CPU calls). I was just suprised that the baseline cpu needed is still below the level of a standard clocked e6300. With DX10, the cpu...

Does the CPU currently matter with high end graphics cards?
Interesting article where the author runs tests with the 8800GTS and GTX at a fixed 1600 x 1200 resolution/AA/AF and then swaps out every core 2 duo available to him.

So much opportunity for bashing...so little time. Yep, the US Entertainment industry is out of control. They are dinosaurs sinking in a La Brea Tar Pit of their own making - rather than evolving with the times and technology, they utilize lawyers and lobbyists to strong-arm consumers and congressmen...

Why is it so damn hard to make a CPU which measures its temperature and sned the data to the mobo so the mobo doesn't have to interpret anything, just show what the CPU tells it to. Obviously it cant be difficult, so the manufacturers just dont want to do that, for whatever reason. Agreed. Disagree...

Point taken. I was more referring to future processors. AMD will be staying with the AM2 platform for which a while, though I heard that Intel will be changing sockets again relatively soon. I don't know if this is actually true though. Isn't AMD moving to AM2+ in the fall? So, while future mobo's ...

Regarding Aero: Wikipedia entry for Vista Note that ATI/AMD and NVidia are far behind on having stable/working drivers for many games under Vista. Before you take the leap, you might want to go to their support websites and check the current status for games you want to play. I'm sticking w/ XP for ...

Put a sheet of very fine sandpaper on a glass tabletop I understand, though it's not lapping in the strictest sense, lapping uses a paste in which the particles are suspended. Sorry for the nitpickeing, but I'm an engineering student and so I wondered whre to get lapping paste and if it's really a ...
