My stock overclocked XFX 8800GTS 320MB idles at 61C and rises to 68C while playing WoW. I don't think it topped 70C when running 3DMark2006.

For my Ninja Rev B and P5B-E build this past weekend - I had to dremel a bit of metal off of the Ninja bracket to clear the caps. Not a big deal.

no buzzing at 49% (my current setting). no buzzing up to and including 75%.

if the buzzing is related to the brightness, then it's probably the inverter/power circuitry for your backlight.

These people should be pissed at scanner companies, and not MSFT. He can find it "inexcusable" all day long, but it isn't going to make a closed-source, proprietary driver that runs on Vista pop out of thin air. I can now confirm that my scanner does not work Vista. I'm not personally mad at anyone...

Well, it's been known with DX9 that the GPU rules the roost. But, also that you need to have a bit of speed with the CPU due to the inefficient way DX9 works (lots of CPU calls). I was just suprised that the baseline cpu needed is still below the level of a standard clocked e6300. With DX10, the cpu...

Does the CPU currently matter with high end graphics cards?

Interesting article where the author runs tests with the 8800GTS and GTX at a fixed 1600 x 1200 resolution/AA/AF and then swaps out every core 2 duo available to him.

I thought it was a well presented paper. Over 100k drives is a nice population to draw from. The temp data was interesting as well as looking at the SMART parameters that serously affect the likelyhood of future failure.

All sorts of reviews out yesterday and today. I'm probably going to get the XFX 320MB XXX version. Stock overclocked unit with faster memory, performs better than the 640MB at my resolution (1600 x1050), lifetime warranty, still has a bit of overclock room to go, and costs about $340US.

Why is it so damn hard to make a CPU which measures its temperature and sned the data to the mobo so the mobo doesn't have to interpret anything, just show what the CPU tells it to. Obviously it cant be difficult, so the manufacturers just dont want to do that, for whatever reason. Agreed. Disagree...

it's certainly not a load issue - you probably don't use more than 100W.
