It's cool that they're available (especially in the UK!)..
On their site I also found a Mobile P4 2GHz for 161 gbp inv VAT.. there was a review for it which had a link to this:
http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/Intel/P4M/
A mobile P4 in a normal mobo.. pretty cool.

....I guess I'll just get a 120gig V /8mb buffer. I'll definetely take a good look around for those Samsung's, that's good to know! Personally speaking I'd investigate the 120G Samsungs with 8MB cache.. I had a Cuda V and didn't like it.. ran hot and I don't really think it was _that_ quiet.. perfo...

A few comments/ideas.. Firstly, if you want a slimmed down windows then have a look at windows lite . Should make it easier to put on a flash disk/DOM. Secondly, it would be hard to run windows off a flash disk because of it's constant paging and temp files.. things would be better if you could disa...

I've done this with Linux many times.. Windows.. dunno.. I've seen some network cards have a "boot from network" option.. could this be of help? I think windows pages in and out of the HDD a lot so I think the machine would be pretty slow. Maybe something like WTS (kinda thin client) would make sens...

This is good news, I'd really like to know more.. I've got an 80SE and I've suspended it in elastic.. my system isn't that quiet but I have to say I can't really hear my 80SE over my CPU (stock intel 2.26B) and PSU (ANtec truepower 380). I can just about hear it spin down when I put the computer int...

Re: Silent sound card suggestions......
....I don't want any PCI noise, badly written drivers, and electrical hum/noise. An external sound card may solve the first and third problems.. have you considered a USB sound card? Never tried one myself but I was planning to get one in the future - just for the reason to getting rid of noise. Yo...

Cool - thanks guys. This Zalman stuff ain't bad being free (more or less) - but I think I'll end up using ceramique or AS3 everywhere. EDIT: BTW Zhentar.. are you suggesting that when you added the nylon washer(s) that heat transfer improved? Surely it would just be another heat transfer interface a...

NB HSF getting hotter..
Hi guys, I've got a question.. I think I know the answer but I'd appreciate comments and views.. Some time ago I took the HSF off my NB to try and fit a ZM-NB32J, but since the existing clip didn't fit the NB32J I put the old HSF back on the northbridge.. The question is about temps.. not knowing ab...

Just a few points to note.. If your fan has a four pin connector on it then it may require more current than can be provided by a three pin motherboard connector. This sometimes happens on 120mm fans. The second issue is speed sense.. the four pin connector doesn;t have it and by adding an adaptor y...

As long as the resistor is in-line (i.e. in series with the fan) then the total resistance is higher.. since voltage is constant then current should be lower - shouldn't hurt the mobo. The voltage (ergo speed) across the fan would depend on the resistance of the fan.. fan's have coils in them so the...

Dual CPU F@H run as service..
Hi, I've got a query.. I'm trying to run the console version of F@H on a dual CPU box.. I'd really like to run it as a service (or as two services I guess).. but I've hit a snag.. the firedaemon method requires Administrator priveleges and I think I've only got Power User status. I just found this w...

Ok, if you're still interested then I've just installed some 5801K8 (Kustom 35) in my Lian-Li PC-60USB - they'll fit but it's very very tight and I had to modify them a bit. According to the Zalman specsheet the ZM80C-HP needs to have a fan for the 9800 and higher, but it is a very quiet fan (and you can undervolt and use any fan that you want really). It just needs good airflow so you might be able to get away with just really good case airflow, you'd have to test but...
