I've noticed there are various different speeds in ddr memory. But how much of a performance difference would I notice between them? Do I really need 400mhz memory, or would I only notice a minimal increase like with dual channel memory?

The stock fan on the Zalman 7000A-Cu isn't exactly quiet. At silent mode it runs 'fairly quiet,' at about 20dba, but it doesn't perform all that well. If you plan on overclocking, you'd most likely be better off with a better heatsink, like the SLK948U, the SP97, or even the upcoming XP120. Use a 92...

it's generally a bad idea to reuse paste. I'd just spend the $10 and not risk reducing the life of your processor.

I personally doubt it was the swap alone that gave you the 10c difference. Did you clean some dust, reseat the heatsink, reapply thermal compound?

The processor itself should be the same, as mobiles are the same as non-mobiles, just picked to the better performers.
