Re: My concorde

How much does it sound? Well, being noise obsessed I would say it sounds just like a concorde. Most normal persons would say it's completely silent. A SPCR person would probably say it's very quiet. Does it also break the sound barrier? And what's the deal with the HD unplugged? (Just out of intere...

In my HTPC case (Lian Li PC-9300) I have an SFX PSU. I removed the noisy 80mm fan along with more than half the housing and replaced it with a 120mm. In the first incarnation was a P4 with Zalman flower, and the 120mm fan cooled both. I did also have an 80mm fan to help bring in fresh air under the ...

Depends what you're going to do with it. I have an original PC-7, which is good now that I've removed all the original fans and only put back in a single quiet 80mm one for rear exhaust, along with a Seasonic PSU and a Ninja with 120mm fan.

I have a MATX case that is along the lines of what you're after. It's a Suntek TH-617 . I opened up the rear with a dremmel to take a 92mm fan (not an easy job!). The drive rack is not great, and I haven't suspended a drive in it, but it's possible, although it might need drilling out of some rivets...

I'm think you mean something a bit different to Rockwool, which is used in acoustic traps, at least by DIYers who find the professional products overpriced. I guess you mean to surround the PC with material to absorb as much of the emitted noise as possible.

I wouldn't bother with the cordless one. I've had mine a few years and don't use it much. Why? Short battery life (for typical PC modding), lower speed due to being cordless, and larger size due to having a battery on the back. Could be a ground loop, so rather than removing the earth connection to the mains, solder in a resistor (10k) on the "ground" of the incoming signal. Alternativly use a DI box with a ground lift or plug the subwoofer into the same power block as whatever it's being fed the audio from.
