Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev.3
I started with a Leadtek 6800GT PCI-E in a system full of mostly overclocked high-performance low-noise devices, so temps were reading high. In fact, they were so high I was beginning to suspect inaccurate temperature diodes. Here's the pertinent componentry of the initial setup, followed by origina...

Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev. 3 Impressions
Hey guys, Since so many of you have expressed an interest in this particular cooler, I'd feel bad keeping it to myself. Keep in mind that this is the cooler used by ASUS on their Extreme N7800 GTX TOP, I just decided to use it on a 6800GT instead of the more popular (here) Zalman VF700. In case you ...

My pleasure. If you still want the ABit, here's where I got it: ABit AN8 Ultra.

warriorpoet, could you please share your experiences with the mobo? I have read conflicting reports about this Abit mobo, some say it is a fine overclocker, others say it sucks (unstable even without overclocking). I'd like to know in order to recommend it (or not) for a new PC in an office. For th...

The Fatal1ty is a higher performance version (higher fan speed = higher noise/heat disipation), and since I overclock my stuff as far as I can, this is the only version I considered. It also matches my (red) Abit board, although that's about the furthest thing from my mind (enough red LED is enough ...

I just ordered a NV Silencer 5 Rev.3...
So if anyone wants to hear my impressions, I'll be happy to post them in about a week. I was torn between this and the Fatal1ty version of the Zalman VF700 series, but decided for the AC because of the price (cheaper by eight dollars), and impressions I've received from a week's worth of forum hoppi...

Sorry it took so long. I had to battle through a bad PSU (I hate SmartPowers...), a bad WinXP install and a finicky mobo to post this (yes, this is my first day fully stable). Anywho, after my SP400 died I was suckered into purchasing one of those nifty Neo HE500 jobbies by the Best Buy guy, and alt...

Well, since there was no immediate response (and my wife's system took a premature dump), I decided to go with this spec: mobo: Abit AN8 Ultra cpu: Athlon64 3200+ (A6 stepping) heatsink: Thermalright SI-120 w/ Nexus Real Quiet fan case: Antec SLK3800B (w/400w SmartPower 2.0 PSU) ...and the shocker v...

Ninja v. SI-120 in a SLK3000B
Given the location of the supplimentary intake, which cooler is the better option? The Ninja seems to (slightly) outperform the XP -120 in a typical tower configuration, but I've seen no comparison with the new SI-120, nor have I seen them compared in a TAC case. One thing that concerns me a bit abo...

If you want silent without dropping $200+ on a new vidcard, I've read good things about this Silent VGA Heatpipe Cooler

I've heard some good things about this VGA cooler, but I have no personal experience.
I second the vote for Nexus fans. They put the hurt on heat (and noise) in my current machine. Here's to hoping they do it as effectively in my next rig...

I've been a lurker here for awhile but I decided to sign up, just to throw in my $.02. That Abit board has a heatpipe, right? The Lian li mounts the Motherboard up side down. Doesn't this render the heatpipe nearly useless? I recently got an asus an8-sli premium. NOT because I intend to run SLI but...

I really appreciate your suggestions. Iron sharpens iron, right? If SLI is going to be a huge heat/noise source, then I don't really want to go that way. As far as sound is concerned, I usually go on-board (especially w/ ABIT's 7.1/ off-board card solution). What is the problem with the Neo4-F? I've...

This is a semi-final list of components that I am using to build my personal system. If something better is recommended (within reason), I'll amend my list, and use components already purchased to complete builds for my friends/family. I am a fairly experienced system builder (20+ builds thus far), ...

1st post/ Request for advice on The Well- Rounded Tweak
Hey guys. I wanted to get your input on my new system build. I'm on a tight budget, so no "you should get an A64 X2 4800+ with an ultra quiet 7800GTX with a custom passive cooler in a custom p180" m'kay? ;) Anywho, this machine is going to be used primarily for gaming/school/kids, so it needs to be ...
