Yes, we know it clashes with your cigar smoking hobby :-)

By the way, for those with really nothing better to do, try a desktop like one of these.

Has anyone done benchmarking on how or if desktop wallpaper affects Windows GUI performance?

I'm running with no wallpaper, black background. I find it easier on the eye esp. late at night with the lights off.

Re: Seasonic S12 not as quiet as I heard?

No idea if it's new or not, but it's the main reason i bought the S12 over some other PSUs. It's a fan connector that connects to one of the standard plugs, and then has 2 LOW connectors & 1 High, 3-pin for fans. Oh, this one . Sorry, my misunderstanding. I thought you're referring to the Sonata Mk...

Is this something new on the Rev2? My Rev1 S12-430 definitely doesn't have a fan only connector.

I'll checkout the reccomended list - price is a definite concern since the case was $125 and Dual 3Ghz Xeons :-) The S12-500 is about $40 more than a TruePower 2.0 550. In other words, the difference is less than 10% of what you intend to spend on the CPU. Another $25 more will get you the Phantom ...

Re: Running hot

I just vacuumed out the case, in case it was dust, with no change. Use canned air (don't shake bottle, don't tilt, etc) instead of vacuuming. It's more effective at dislodging dust from CPU heatsinks, and there's concerns about static electricity from vacuum machines. Other possibility : HSF not se...

I'm suddenly getting CHKDSK errors and some apparently corrupted files on the 9-month old Seagate 80Gb 7200.7 HDD. Should I worry that it is about to die?
