AFAIK, that 7.4 mm power plug is common in HP's professional laptops.

My parents have two W7 computers with Office 2003 installed. I used an updated ISO with Service Packs and Updates added for installation, dunno if that makes any difference.

Re: PWM fan stuck at max speed, ignores speedfan settings

Have you configured Speedfan to control the specific fan with PWM? Readings > Configure > Advanced > Chip: Choose fan controller and check the settings. (No, I don't know what all the settings are for. ;) ) It could also be a 4-pin fan header that doesn't support PWM, although I doubt that since it'...

I really liked D9, one of the good things about it is that you really can't imagine how it would end.
When I heard about Blomkamps new film I got curious, but I had my doubts about whether if it could be something like D9, or if it would get Hollywoodized... :D

Get this one instead, it's the only model left with the same dimensions, the 430 and the 600 W models are gone on their site.

Re: Windows 8: what do you think about it?

Use the task bar, not the start menu. It's a very good alternative that most people refuses to even try out. They prefer a clean look and don't want the task bar to get cluttered, and if you're one of them you have a reason for sticking with W7. The thing is though, most people have never tried putt...

The extra RAM may be good to have in the future, but it doesn't make much difference for 1600 x 1200. I guess it depends on the model.

Some cards can be set to stop the fans when they're in idle and uses about 15 W or less.
I know some people here have done it with Nvidia 660 (Ti).

Optical cables will help placing the computer where it should be - far away from the display where you sit.

Re: Mini-ITX- Thermaltake SD101? Alternatives?

Stay away from proprietary PSU form factors, unless you're going to use a PicoPSU. Just look at the pictures, if the case is 119 mm wide, how big can the PSU fan be? 50 mm?? I'm pretty sure it will be really noisy. If you're going to do the liter/gallon/volume race, be prepared for some sacrificing ...

I had the same problem with my AXP-140, so I ordered a Thermalright LGA1156 Bolt-Thru-Kit for AXP-140 from Performance PCs for only £10, including shipping to Sweden. I can't find a kit that specifically fits your HS, but if you do some searching maybe you'll find if one of them does. The only place...

Re: Noctua NH-L12 Low Profile Cooler

Both fans pushes the air down towards the CPU. This configuration is often called push-pull, since the first fan pushes the air into the heatsink, and the second fan pulls air out of the heatsink. If you use the fans like you describe you'll end up with a tug of war situation; the fans work against ...

Great to hear that you're doing some progress.

71° C is nice, you may even raise the temp to 80° C, by lowering the GPU fans.

Why voiding the warranty? Just RMA it. There's no guarantee that new TIM will help, and then he's stuck with a possibly bad card.

Why are you running Furmark? Try a game instead. As long as you don't use the exact same settings as the reviewers did you're working blindfolded. Even though this review clearly shows that Furmark uses less power with this card than when gaming, it could be a matter of settings. http://www....
