I cannot guarantee it, but I'm pretty confident that in a case with reasonable airflow, you would be able to cool that processor with a Ninja. Newegg is selling the successor to the Ninja, the Ninja 2, right now, though it is out of stock at the moment. Back in the day, I could almost cool a Prescot...

I'm running a Core i7 @ 3.8GHz and an OC'd Radeon 4890 with (2) S-flex 1200rpm fans @ 5v at the top and rear 120mm positions. If I'm doing something really stressful, I turn up the fans, but this is more for comfort's sake, since even when the fans are at 5v I don't have any heat-related issues with...

I don't know from first-hand experience with your board, but if it's anything like past AMD chipsets driver #1 includes a version of the ATi driver. It most likely is less up-to-date than the one you downloaded from AMD, but seeing as you're using integrated graphics you probably won't notice the di...

Yes, I understand that. What kind of temps do you get during normal heavy use, as opposed to the cpuburn? Are you using Mugen2 with two fans? Under normal load (gaming mostly), temps hover around 62-63. This is with the stock Slipstream at around 675rpm. I'm only using one. Edit: Regarding the pric...

On the cooling front, Mugen 2 as well as Noctua U-12P are inferior choices as per the SPCR tests. They are in the 8.5/10 range in the recommended list. (Actually Mugen 2 isnt' there yet, but I think that is where it will get put eventually.) I would recommend TRUE or Megahalems. I wouldn't want my ...

I'm going to have to agree with lodestar and danimal on this one. I just finshed building a heavily overclocked Core i7 system (920 up to 3.8GHz), and it is a power hog. 410W AC full load (CPU+GPU). The Mugen2 with its fan dialed down to inaudible levels is sufficient to "cool" the CPU (I say "cool ...

 ... Just finished building my new i7 computer, and I was shocked to see the power consumption. I, like many people here, hate to see people on forums recommending 600W power supplies to run dual-core, mid-power systems, so imagine my surprise when I checked my Kill-A-Watt last night... 410W ...

The link that LodeHacker...er...linked is talking about the QPI (Quick-Path Interconnect) portion of the Core i7. This has been unlocked in the sense that it can now run at the full 6.4GB/s, as opposed to what we thought was the maximum 4.8GB/s. This does not, however, increase the CPU core frequenc...

I'm fairly confident in what I am about to say, but fact-checking is always good :-/ The Core i7 920 does have a locked multiplier, but that does not mean that there is no multiplier control. Basically, the multiplier is locked upwards (meaning that it cannot go about 20x under normal circumstances)...

Not sure exactly what the question is, but I'll try to answer a few. The reason why the 245T takes so much more power than the other monitors is because it uses a different panel technology (S-PVA as opposed to S-TN). S-PVA gives better color reproduction and viewing angles than TN, but TN generally...

Usually buzzing from LCDs is caused by the brightness being set at something less than 100%. MikeC posted a workaround in which one sets the monitor brightness all the way too full, and if that is too bright, one can turn down the brightness settings at the video card driver level.

What the pictures don't show is how they have redesigned the front grills behind the door (the ones you can open to access the air filters). They are much more unrestrictive, but very ugly to me. The same has been done with the bay covers. Though I'd use it if I was given one, I think I'll wait for ...

I personally would go with the P182. I like the looks more, but this isn't the only reason why I'd go with it. As you said, the P183 may be noisier because it is a lot more open. The P182 does have less airflow, but it is fine to cool my overclocked Q9550 and Radeon HD4850 perfectly with only one fa...

I have an E6750 lying around here. It has a 1333MHz FSB, so you'd have to see if your board could run that. I bought it of yamahaSHO from here I think, actually. It was overclocked to 3.2GHz @ 1.35v for its lifetime, and the IHS has been lapped. I upgraded to a quad core and that's the only reason w...

I have the 320GB version of that drive (HD322HJ) and I don't hear any of the clicking that you hear. Seek noise is very muffled (sort of a quiet rumbling). There is a slight motor whine, but I can only hear it when I am right in front of the drive (my system is very quiet). Perhaps your drive is def...

EACS or EADS should be of the same acoustic properties, the only difference being the EADS has 32MB of cache as opposed to the EACS and its 16MB of cache. Originally, the EADS had fewer platters (and thus a greater potential for being quiet) than the EACS, but they incorporated this into the EACS li...

What happens when one makes a folder private?
Hey all, I really should know the answer to this question, but I don't so I leave it up to you... What happens in Windows (XP/Vista) when you set your personal folders to private? I'm not absolutely positive from a performance standpoint, but I think the 7600GT is faster (I know it's faster in real-world games than the 6600GT). The 7600GT and 6800GS have the same number of vertex shaders (5) and pixel shaders (12). The 6800GS does have the advantage when it comes to ROPs (12 ...
