They come in different sizes and models. I am sure you can find something you will really like and small enough to fit. With the digital panels, you will have no choice and they may be also too big to fit 3 into a single panel. If they are small enough, they will be hard to read. With analogue, the ...

I noticed that the RAID card I have (Promise) does not spin up the hard disks all at the same time. It seems a purposeful design feature and it is very helpful to avoid the overload at the spin-up. Hopefully, all RAID cards behave like that. Also, the cards (if you have more than one) are initialise...

Your temp goes from low 50 idle to mid 50 under full load? Well, congratulations! I do not think you need any more cooling than that. If you are satisfied with the sound of the system, leave it alone, it's perfect.

Actually, if I was doing this, I would use the analog voltmeters like the ones they use in audio equipment from some time ago. Amplifiers, lever meters and so on. I think those are easily available and they look much cooler than the digital screens. Plus, they are much easier to read at a distance.

I think I found a "sweet spot" of my CPU :) Apparently, both the frequency and the FSB stress the CPU (surprise, surprise  ). Well, I was pushing hard to get it run at 200 FSB all the time and that was not a good idea. The result of this was: - CPU heats considerably more - the northbridge hea...

You said you were able to run it at 1.1v, 200*5 to top at 51C. Curious what if another say 20% or so drop in speed at the same voltagee would actually drop that much further. It is really difficult to say. Dropping the frequency seems to help always. The CPU is very sensitive to the ambient tempera...

Voltage does play a major role, but by my calculations, the power consumption should still be 33% higher at 1ghz/1.1v than 500mhz/1.35v. Well, that's the interesting part. The voltage seems to have much more influence on the power than I thought. That's why I am so keen on dropping the voltage as l...

Weird Vcore problem on cold XP-M

I have the Athlon Mobile Barton XP2600+ (what a mouthful!) in a Abit NF7-S board (BTW, a great board!). The purpose of this setup is to run passively cooled. To acieve this end, I run the CPU at 200x5=1GHz @ 1.1V Vcore. This works fine and system is completely stable and reasonably cool (well, not t...

The idle temperature is nothing to worry about. What you should do is to check what will be the maximum temperature under stress testing. While monitoring the temperature, run CPUburn or Prime95 for an hour or so. You will see what the max temperature will be. That's the important one.

I would really like a panel like that, without any HDD cooling or whatever. Just a matching panel with a couple of thermometers. Like Lian-Li does. That would be really, really nice.

For video editing, you need a video card with good 2D video quality. AFAIK, the video software never uses any 3D acceleration features of the contemporary cards. The http://www.vcdhelp.com people suggest that any card is sufficient, even, as was mentioned, the MX440. However, the MX400 does not have...

This is a revision of the previous ZM400A-APS. The only thing known in advance about it is that it has SATA power connectors now. However, there are other changes as well. I did not compare them side-by-side but one difference is quite obvious and I did not like it. The "old" unit has only one intak...

I have both BackUPS and SmartUPS from APC. SmartUPS at the office and BackUPS at home. The reasons are obvious: I do not want my machines to crash due to the power outages. The difference between those models is in the mode of operation. BackUPS feeds the AC power directly to your computer. If the p...

So, your XP-M 2500+ should normally run at 166x11? Aren't they supposed to run at 14 x 133? That's what you get, I think, when you put it into the MSI board. It probably detects the highest multiplier that the chip can do and locks it there. Mine is XP-M 2600+, so it is normally run at 15x133. That'...
