Blasted! My brand new Soltek SL-KT600-RL does not allow changing the multipier either! For Christ sake, it even lets me play in the BIOS with the multiplier setting, just does not apply it anywhere! This is not good... :( I wonder, if the board specifies that it allows changing the multiplier on the...

Re: Should I be worried?
I was reading the post about how asus is inaccurate in displaying proper CPU temps. Does this apply to the CPU temp only or to the motherboard as well?. my idle temps are from 45-48 and load is round 50-52. Case is from 35-38. I am using MBM and the numbers seem to reflect bios as well. my system s...

They could have done this internal RAID, I guess. That is, they could store simultaneously an exact copy of the data onto 2 platters. However, this would not make much difference because most of the time the hard disk fails as a whole, I think. This would help against some bad blocks but would not p...

I do not have any experience with this unit and, frankly, I do not want any :) It seems there are too many functions for my liking. My favorite is currently the thermometer for Lian-Li cases like this one: http://www.lian-li.com/product.php?action=viewPD&prdid=798 They fit into a standard case if yo...

I did not have any clicking sounds from any of the 80mm Papst fans, either old or recent. Of 92mm, I have only old ones and they are fine. The 120mm fans are the ones that annoy me: from the recent purchase, 2 out of 3 fans exhibit this clicking sound. It does seem to me that Papst fans are deterior...

In my case, I get better results with placing the fan on the CPU. I use a Thermalright SLK900 with a Papst 80 mm fan on it ducted to the case exhaust hole with one of those collapsible ducts. The noise is definitely muffled by the case when the fan is deep inside compared to when the fan is attached...

This site only ships to The Netherlands and to Belgium. Maybe if you give them a call they may reconsider...SpyderCat wrote: Does it have to be black?
These guys do ship internationally. Wouldn't know if they ship to the UK.

Don't you mean negative pressure? I have negative pressure on my case, removed the front fans completly. Yes, this is one way to do it. I will try to see how well it works anyway. However... I plan initially to try exactly the opposite, really. With 2 fans in front, let's say Papst 8412NGL at.. mmm...

Yes, this is exactly wat I am thinking about. I will probably get a Zalman PSU and duct the top opening to the PSU. After that, the rest of the case is a prime candidate for positive pressure setup with CPU exhaust ducting... I want to have a look at the case in the real life though to make sure how...

Lian-Li PC60 - 4th fan?
Hello, folks!
The specification of Lian-Li PC60 case says that there are 4 8cm fans. 2 of them are in the bottom front, one in the back as the exhaust. Where is the 4th fan?
TIA

It is implementation-dependent. In other words, it depends on the design of the driver. Some of the systems do striping on read, others don't. Definitely the Linux software RAID 1 driver does striped reads. I cannot tell you for any other system or board though. If you have a board that supports RAI...

RAID 5 is much better than RAID 1 for both reliability and space efficiency. IIRC, Linux can do RAID 5 in S/W with some penalty in processor time / performance, so you don't necessarily have to get additional hardware. RAID 5 is not better than RAID 1 for reliability. It is better for space efficie...

You know, I would really try to exhaust the CPU heat directly. Since you do not have 2 80mm fans in the back, just make a duct from the exhaust fan over the 2 CPUs and turn the CPU fans to suck the air through the blades. See what happens. If it shows any improvement, you could actually either make ...

Option 1: 2 250GB Maxtor Maxline II Hard Drives in RAID 1, hence providing 250GB rather than 500GB. Good: lots of space, fast, reliable because of RAID. Bad: highest power consumption, and what about noise? Cost: around £300 Option 2: 2 60GB Toshiba MK6022GAX 5400/16mb 2.5" drives in RAID 1, hence ...

Yes, I think that Dukla is completely right. The air circulated by the CPU fan gets an easy way out of the box with the side panel open. Essentially, I think, without the side panel you get an independent cooling of each component. When the case is closed, all sorts of thermal dependencies between t...

Ah, but you have an Asus board. Asus boards display 2 sets of thermometer readings to the world using 2 different chip interfaces (at least mine does). What you get in MBM may be correct and may be completely phony, depending on the board. I found it out after using the lm-sensors under Linux. The t...
