new front intake and exhaust
so i went mad with the drills today. a cyberhug goes out to anyone who correctly identifies what i was trying to make the new front intake look like. also an attempt to cool the dvd better with some exhaust-holes all around it. http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/5546/frontnn1.th.jpg added a b...

Threadstarter, do you have the option to change Vdd or VMCH under overclocking or frequency and voltages section? MCH = Northbridge (technically not for A64, but oh what the heck), and Vdd will also affect its voltage. nope. have tried with nvidias performance tool but it refuses to change any of t...

Undervolting GPU on nVidia 6150?
the northbridge on my msi k8ngm2-fid is running quite hot and as i very rarely use the computer for any demanding graphics i wonder if it's possible to lower the frequency and voltage of the gpu and thereby reduce overall system heat output? would setting the "cpu to nb frequency" option in bios ena...

winguy - how about checking the thread before asking? i bought the zalman zm-nb47j nb cooler today, to put on the gpu. i shall report when it's done. subjectively much cooler running. 10-20 degrees according to my finger thermometer. with the original sink i couldn't hold my fingers on it for more t...

The only ones reviewed are the Seasonic SS-300SFD 80 Plus: Little Big PSU and it's predecessor. i have ran one of these for a couple of months now. stock fan is ok but with a fan swap it would be excellent. runs really cool with it's very high efficiency. i used to have a seventeam matx psu - that ...

size of intake and duct?
hello, still designing my future case. question now is how large do i need to make the air intake hole and intake duct to feed a couple of nexus 92'ers with air? see beautiful illustration: http://81.216.167.201/bilder/case1.GIF in case (quite possibly) it's not clear enough, i will have an intake a...

As for the northbridge on the MSI... as I mentioned, a Zalman 7700 on the CPU takes care of keeping it cool. I imagine a Thermalright XP- or SI-series HSF would also work, assuming those sinks fit the board. (xp-90 fits, 120 might fit on some boards depending on capacitor bendability or with ram in...

kind of a bad fit though, too big. had to mount it at about a 15 degree angle which looks kind of silly. square didn't fit and neither did 45 degrees. Would there be any fit issues on the Asus A8N-VM CSM ? hard to tell actually. the problem with the k8ngm2-fid is that the nb and sb heatsinks are ra...

The new nTune beta has a similar monitoring utility, and it shows a temp for the "nForce", which I take to mean the IGP. speedfan 4.29 beta 7 shows that sensor too. things is though "nForce" is actually the southbridge, the chip with the black heatsink closest to the sata-connectors, nForce 430. th...

modify zm-2hc2 so it actually works
hello, so i was more or less forced to buy the zalman zm-2hc2 yesterday even though i know the nexus disktwin would be a better choice. but now i'm trying to do the bst i can about the situation. upon mounting the zalman to my spinpoint it became apparent the hs was only toucing a few square mm were...

one thing though it's probably the same for all boards with integrated graphics. the gpu does get ridicusly hot. with a highly efficient heatsink on the cpu (i run the xp-90c) the cpu fan is spinning so slowly you get very little airflow over the gpu. i'm planning to fix this with some sort of ducti...

MSI K8NGM2-FID Speedfan Support. CrystalCPUID support – not sure if that’s a given for all CnQ CPUs! Ability to overclock by 20-25 whilst keeping the PCIe buss & memory clock at or below stock speeds. Any help appreciated. had one of these for a few months now, very pleased: no speedfan. works ...

i am about to build a custom case and i've been doing some experiments with airflow over my xp-90c (copper version, as expensive as the 120 and almost as effective. xp-120 won't fit my cramped matx mb). cpu is 3200+. with some ducting a nexus 92mm at 850rpm/about 6v can keep the cpu at 45 degrees ce...

Re: HDD Plan-Comments/Help Please
sorry it's taken me so long to answer... somewhat ot i guess but i've used veritas backup products quite a lot, a lot of fiddling initially but then it serves you very well for ever. i think veritas was bought by or partner with symantec these days? Yes, symantec bought out veritas, but what product...

Re: Mid-fan case concept
qualifies--the huge rear exhaust means the overpressure would be very slight. that woul be my only grief with your concept - i fear ambient temperature on the mobo-compartment would be rather high. since you wont have an active exhaust i think maybe a lot of heat will just hang around, refusing to ...

I hate to be a stickler, but _how_ are you going to have an external top heatsink connected to an internal heatsink, attached to VRMs which possibly are passing current to the expected internal heatsink, and have it isolated from ground? you're not a stickler (being a non-native english speaker i d...
