Why do you need such a powerfull cpu for a fileserver. Get an Amd Le and save some power. Also I really liked the review for the new enterprise level Western Digital greens 1TB, they use about 7.4watt on full load. This will save you some good power.

I am looking for a new motherboard. I heard the Asus P5K uses alot of power.I am looking at Abit IP35, Asus P5K-V. Can someone recomend me a good board, low power usage and some overclocking.

just saw your post... why do u want to know how many platters they have? who cares at the end... they are the absolutely best HDDs in 500GB today! and maybe the best solution for any other storage capacity... i've got 5 of them in RAID 5 array and they are just perfect , including 5 years warranty....

After installing the bolt thru my temps went up by almost 5c.
Using the old Scythe mounting kit, the temps were alot better.

No cooler is perfect. I have the Scythe Ninja Rev B. I dont like the way it mounts. The Ultra 120 or Tuniq Tower with a different fan maybe be the best for you. The Tuniq Tower 120 is loud with stock fan, I saw in some reviews all full speed it touches 40db.

Hopefully you'll be able to suspend the Scythe HDD box? That would surely eliminate virtually all of the vibration. Costs will be minimal too. Should this get rid of the seek noises too. Thanks It will probably reduce the seek noise but not remove it altogether. My 500GB samsung does have some audi...

I set the voltage 1.365 in bios and boots fine. Get the overvolt warning. But its been running seti boinc stable for the past 12 hours.
