Artic Silver provided me with a sample of ArtiClean: http://www.arcticsilver.com/arcticlean.htm and I am quite amazed at how well the thing works. If all else fails, you should try picking some up.

P.S. I do not work for ArticSilver or have any affiliation with them. :)

For me, the importance of power efficient components increases with the amount of hours the PC is expected to stay turned on. My 24x7 server has more efficient components and aggressive underclocking than my workstation. Lately I've been experimenting more with S3 standby and have been very impresse...

As far as I know all the Asus with Q-Fan have both enabled/disabled and a selection of mode. Asus M2NPV-VM is an exception to that rule. It has an option to enable/disable Q-fan in the bios but no other options beyond that. Latest bios does not enable any other features. I have tried Asus PC Probe ...

does anyone know if the Q-Fan works for the CPU if you only plug in a 3 pin fan to the 4pin pwm connector? i want to put a scythe infinity on my board (to replace the stock cooler) but the 12cm fan is only a 3 pin model (not a 4pin pwm one) I'm using a 3 pin scythe fan (came off a katana) on my Asu...

I've been pleasantly surprised by the tweaking capabilities of my Dell laptop using I8kfanGUI - http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

Fan control via I8kfangui and undervolting via RMClock has yielded a much cooler laptop with longer battery life.

Many have tried replacing the stock dell fan with aftermarket fans and report having sporadic success. I have personally replaced my dimension 4550 fan with a 92mm nexus fan and get a "Fan failure" bios error 1 out of every 3-4 reboots. I believe this has to do with the slower fan speed of the Nexus...

So the ninja still wins for passive. But i'm still left wondering if the infinity would work as well a ninja in a P180 case passively cooled. My infinity in the p180 has no problems keeping a F2 Orleans 3200+ cool with nexus fans underclocked at 5V. The heatsink is quite close to the P180 top exhau...

QuietOC: You're right, Speedfan and CPU-Z report the voltage as .864V, a little higher than rmclock's .85 setting. Did you verify those CPU voltages (specifically the 0.85V setting)? RMClock and AMD's power monitor software confirm CPU voltage dropping from 1.1v to .85v. At the same time, CPU core temps dropped a couple degrees and kill-a-watt displayed a reduction in power consumption. RMClock actually allowed...

I recently made the decision to purchase the Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G over the Biostar Tforce 6100 for my AM2 A64 3200+. In the end, the additional features of the Gigabyte were more important to me than the supposed additional reliability of the Biostar. Even with all the features and some posts ind...
