I've done something similar to the top vent on my Antec P182.

It definitely works to make the system quieter from the front and top of the case, so I guess that the ModuVent would be pretty effective. :)

http://en.expreview.com/2010/09/09/mounting-holes-pitch-of-mainstream-vga-cards-listed/9581.html The Accelero S1 should be able to fit it alright, and it will clear the rear of the case. Mmm, probably a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ with a Nexus 120 / Scythe Slipstream / Scythe Kaze Maru and some sort of fan control like a Zalman Fanmate 2. Works out to $34 + $12~$15 + $6 Or use a Scythe Slipstream PWM fan ($15). For a cheaper option, you could strap a slow spinning 80mm fan onto the stoc...

Re: p183 and suspension

You should be able to get creative with the bottom HDD cage, using some thin bungee/elastic/sewing cord. What you do is use the existing holes where the silicone grommets are, and also the bottom outside edge where the black plastic guide rails are. Of course do it in such a way that you can still s...

Re: Is 9cm front fan effective on Antec Solo

I have a passively cooled VGA card (AC S1 on HD3650) which can bump to ~80C in GPU burn. Iirc, SPCR found out that the case exhaust fan is more important for keeping a passive VGA heatsink cool. Have you tried removing a few expansion slot covers? Since airflow takes the easiest path, the rear case...

Aren't the bigger tabs at the front of the side panels enough? I've got a P182 as well, and most of those little tabs have long since broken off. However, the bigger three tabs at the front of each side panel are more than enough to hold them in place.

Re: Graphics Card for new build in FT02 case

I have an AC Accelero S1 on my 5870, and while idling, keeps it to ~40C, with minimal airflow. While running Furmark, it manages to keep the card at ~90C, but that's with fans at full pelt, with lots of noise. But the card is idling most of the time anyway, and means its almost silent majority of t...

First thing's first, perhaps your original design would work better in the Fractal R3 or P183? The main argument against your original design was the method of exhausting hot air. Instead of making the hot air go downwards, why not let it go sideways/up like mkk and frenchie suggested? The insulated...

I've had a good experience with the Nexus Drive-A-Way. It almost completely eliminates the electric motor noise of a Spinpoint F1 750GB. By comparison, my Caviar Green 1TB is plainly audible compared to the enclosed F1.

It doesn't do much for vibration though.

First off I can't buy that card in the US. A google price search including the terms "Gigabyte Radeon HD 5770 Silent Cell" doesn't show it on any site that doesn't list the price in Euros. damn. so maybe I shouldnt even try to put on the S1 this weekend. I could always sand down the little white spacers a smidge. I've never bothered with the spacers, and haven't had a problem with the last three cards it's been on. Just take due care when installing the heatsink. Don't over-tighten it.

As per the SPCR review for the P183, the top exhaust fan may be the primary source of annoying noise for you. See what the rig sounds like with the top exhaust fan disabled.

Seems like too niche a contraption. Imo it's a bandaid solution (expensive one at that) for a noisy rig that has the rear of the case facing towards someone's bed. I think I'd rather: a) build one myself from material lying around (eg. layers of plastic stuck together and some thin foam on the insid...

Not enough room to put a 140mm fan in the front of my P182 case, so I gather the P183 would be the same. Have a look at this pic . Barely enough room for 120mm fan. You *might* be able to squeeze a 140mm fan in the lower chamber though, but I don't think it would be worth it just for the hard drives...

Where on earth did you get that 13" long figure from? The passive Gigabyte 9800GT is longer than the passive Gigabute 5750. Don't even need a ruler/specs to compare them, just take a look at the pics in these links and compare the length of the PCI-e slot. HD5750 9800GT Btw, if you're in Brisbane or...

The MSI needs some modification to the Accelero - what about the ASUS? Those two mods are relevant to pretty much all video cards that the S1 can be installed on. That plastic shroud that's right against the PCI-e slot usually needs to be removed anyway, since it tends to bump up against motherboar...
