 thats one good pc you have lined up... I would get a E6750, and a reg. 8800GTX, then overclock both...you'll save some money and it will be pretty much identical to the E6850 and 8800Ultra... You won't need 700watts either, so i would get a Corsair HX520 or 620, both are modular and are $100...

Re: Thank you!
You mentioned using the Swiftech MicroRes... is there a significant advantage in using this? I was just going to use a T in my loop with a filling valve at the top of the case. A T-Line performs pretty much the same function as a reservoir, just bleeding the system of air is easier with a reservoir...

512mb to 1024mb makes a noticeable difference, but not a tremendous one... i upgraded my desktop from 512 to 1024, and everything runs a bit faster...i'm guessing a laptop would experience similiar effects... when using IE, the ram wouldn't help significantly, but if you're also playing music, video...

what is your cpu fan speed at idle? load? your idle isn't that bad, but it is slightly above the usual..your load though is somewhat high... generally push pins are frustrating, but it could be your contact isn't tight enough. What thermal paste are you using? most likely your pins are properly atta...

Re: First Water Cooled Build - How does this look?
Based on that information, I have some questions: - Will that cooler handle the CPU, GPU, and chipset? - Will I be able to get that water system inside of the Antec P182 case keeping in mind the massive size of the 8800GTX? - What waterblocks would you recommend for the chipset and GPU? - Is there ...

70+ degrees idling is normal for a 8800, but a well ventilated case can drop it to ~60. make that 85c now If you're getting 70+ on a HR-03...then something's wrong I'm guessing you had some poor contact or that "shin-etsu" isn't that good Try Arctic Silver 5 + the HR-03 plus and maybe a faster fan? ...

Ok, so i just had to post again, since the "Scythe Mugen" was unfamiliar -- so it turns out its better known name is the Infinity... well, personally i think that is MAJOR overkill for your processor...the Infinity is about 1kg, 10 heatpipes, and kinda massive - all on just push pins... (they just w...

should I buy additional 92mm intake fan? if its just office use, you probably won't need another 92mm fan does it matter (for silence/cooling) which RAM I pick (I plan 1GB)? If so, what is recommended? for cooling yes, silence, no...if you want to keep your budget marginal, get Corsair ValueSelect,...

Get Yate Loons for all your case fans, then attach to a fan controller - 7V is dead silent for idle/basic usage, kick it up to 9-12V for gaming, where your ingame sound will outperform the fan's noise. For CPU cooler, get a ultra 120 or ninja - top 2 cpu HSFs out there. Oh and strap another YL on th...

you can monitor temps on a HD - you'll need to place one of those thermal sensors that come w/ some fan controllers and just tape it onto the side of the raptor i would have at least one case fan blowing in, and one blowing out if you need quiet fans, spcr has tons of forums on that, but i prefer ya...

well, the MFC1 version doesn't monitor temps - you just spin the knob to increase speed. most people who use this know their fan's rpm and can estimate how fast it needs to run to cool their system. the MFC2 has rpm, and temp display, but i don't think it can adjust rpm according to temp... that fan...

oh, well then... for the RAID controller...i'm not sure if vendors have water blocks for that? but you said it has "the mounting point"...what do you mean by that? I probably wouldn't go for a passive PSU, but the seasonic's are very quiet. default fan controllers on the mobo adjust the rpm according to the temp, but lots of people find it easier to manually adjust... The Zalman ZM-MFC1 is a popular one, and the new ZM-MFC2 looks pretty spiffy with the color l...

well, first off...what are your specs? a watercooling setup can vary quite a lot depending especially on your setup... generally, the Zalman WC setups are a bit "weak" but can work well if you plan on WC'ing a HTPC setup that doesn't generate a lot of heat...otherwise, the Zalman pumps and passive r...

you can drill out 120mm or 140mm fan holes on that side panel, then just put a quiet fan+filter, and it would cool your heatsinks on the x1900. Even a dead silent fan would still blow some air over them. Or you can get one of those PCI slot fan blowers from Antec (for example), and set that on low. ...

first off, the 8800GTS can run quiet enough, but be forewarned...it'll get pretty toasty If you want a more $$ alternative, get a HR-03 with a nexus 92mm fan - that will give you better noise/temp ratio than the stock, but it will set you back another $60-70. Since it takes 4 slots w/ fan (if you mo...

the quality of that S-flex is relatively random...sometimes you get a good one, other times yours will tick... i would just get a yate loon, as it is a faster version of the nexus and yes, the YL will cool a quadcore w/ that ultra120 if you plan on controlling your fan speeds, i would just get YL's ...

oh, ok...i would just get that pump w/ reservoir then. it would save space and i'm guessing it'd be cheaper than getting a reservoir + pump separately. i doubt that aluminum reservoir would make a big impact on your temps, and its probably not worth the extra $$$ i would just stick w/ that pump, rad...

T-line has that space-saving feature, and easy refill maintenance, but when you first bleed the system for air, a T-Line can take quite some time. Reservoirs also allow more liquid to circulate, and therefore, dropping temps slightly over longer periods of time. Is this the pump w/ reservoir you're ...
