I love my new slk-800a!
Just got my slk-800A yesterday and I love it. The CPU temp drop by 6C over my volcano 7+ with the same low speed NMB 80mm fan. I'm going to try a sunon fan and put a fanmate on it to see how much it will drop. My current temp is 51C without load and 60C running prime95 with room temp at 21C. By the ...

Mike's explanation make since. Like I said before, I pretty sure is not the heat because it is constant from start to shutdown (after the initial 2 second high speed start). At first I thought it could be the presure too, but than I left the cover off and it sound the same (a little louder due to th...

Why is the PS louder while in the case?
I brought a Fortron FSP300-60PN and test it outside of the case by shorting the green w/ the black wire. It was so quiet that I didn't even think it was on. I have to place my ear about 2 inches (5 cm) from the unit before I can hear it. However, as soon as I put it in the case, it was louder. The n...

Want I'm thinking is hooking up a 12v (11 - 13V) deep cycle battery directly to a DC PS. I believe this would allow me to go fanless because there is no need for converting 120 AC to 12 DC. I'm hoping that this will reduce the heat in the PS and it'll make a great UPS. I want the PS to have the stan...

12V input ATX PS
Anyone out there know where I can get one of these in the US? I want a ps that takes a 12V DC as the input. I know they make it, I just don't know where I can get one.

I put together couple Shuttle SFF before. The first one I put together was loud when it got hot because the PS fan would go into full speed. On the secound, I cut out the PS fan grill and didn't have that problem anymore. It would have been quieter if I have cut the 80 mm fan grill out too, but it w...

Opinion on the Cooldrive3
Has anybody use a cooldrive 2 or 3 from Cooler Masters? I'm thinking about buying one of these and run the fan at 5V or 7V. Better yet, not run the fan at all.

Re: It could work!
Even normal 3.5" desktop Harddrive? They must have change the design somewhere along the way.Nope, remember that the heads float across the surface of the disk on a cushion of air. No air and the heads would drag along the surface, leaving pretty little scratches

It could work!
I think that a hard drive in a vacuum would work. How about water cool the hd. All you have is two hose going into the vacuum. Also, wouldn't the hd work better? There won't be any air resistance so the disk can spin freely and the head could move back and forth quicker?

To answer everyone's question. I have a noise cancellation headphone from Brookstone that I use in the office. It does a nice job w/ the printer hum and some other noice around the office, but not so will w/ the computer fan noise. We have Dell Optiplex GX240's. It is a very quiet system already. Wi...

I should have know better
God! I should have realize that that is max noise level and may not be the noise level at 12 v. It looks like from the chart that lower CFM is not always lower dB-A. Also according to the chart, it might be better to get a M1 or H1 or even U1 and adjust the voltage to get min. noise. I wish they wou...

Panaflo FBA vs FBL series fans?
I am looking at the Fanaflo FBL series fans. FBL are "Louvered design increases air flow and decreases turbulent noise at standard rating conditions." While the FBA are "fans force air out in a 'funnel' type pattern and are ideal when cooling a specific area that is surrounded by numerous components...

Is this the same power supply as the Fortron - P300XFPN 300W ? The link on Newegg is http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.a ... 14&order=1
The reason is that I just order it thinking is going to help quiet my system.

It has Hydro-Wave Bearing Technology. Sounds like a Papst but is by Titan at is rated at 32 db. At $4.99 is sounds pretty good and I can run it at 7v or 5v.
