well I've given up on those crappy speakers, I installed them on another computer used by others. My new computer is fine now that I swapped the speakers with the old computer (which will be using a hi-fi system for now.)

If anyone has nice 5.1 speakers I would nonetheless like to hear it.

It's a new computer that I'm setting up, not the old computer which is hooked up to both computer speakers and a stereo receiver. Actually I'm mostly trying to get a non-whiny subwoofer for the new computer. The new subwoofer has inherent whine that exists without any connection to an audio source. ...

quiet speakers

Hi all, anyone knows some brand-name speakers (stereo, 5.1, etc) that do not generate much static or electric noise? I noticed that my new generic speakers have a lot of unwanted whine, whereas my older Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 system is relatively free of unwanted noise at lower to medium volumes. ...

can a fan destroy a motherboard?

This is what the vendor who sold me the board claimed when I showed him the remains of my board, an ECS K7S5A Pro, whose underside circuit is damaged (one wire is blown out and hanging). Basically I turned the power on and smelled something burning, which is likely when the damage occured. Afterward...

PSU are almost NEVER repaired. They just chuck em, hopefully into a recycling lot of some kind. It is just replaced. You should talk to the shop & push a little, and/or get in touch with the Enermax distributor in Canada. Update: I just got my PSU back, and, surprise, they just gave me back the old...

It's a plain food container, and the idea is old: http://www.overclockers.com/tips00203/index02.asp I just added foam in the box, plus a second drive and a fan. If I manage to find another container I would move the second drive to its own box. I have another Barracuda in the case that is sitting on...

In my experience modding a generic PSU can be dangerous since it's lower quality and can overload and overheat easily. When my 300w PSU died, it took out my RAM in the process (I think, since it became faulty).

When my Enermax gets not enough airflow it complains by means of annoying coil whine.

To rid my IBM 60GXP of its high-pitch noise, I 1 put it to the bottom of the case 2 added foam beneath 3 put the foam and the drive in a clear plastic container --> great reduction in whine. I tried to put a second HD, a Barracuda IV, in the same container, but both drives would overheat quickly sta...

Anyone using Enermax w/ 1 low airflow fan?

Has anyone been using an Enermax with only one low airflow fan without problems? For many months I've used a 350w with two NMBs at 7V each. Just curious if others have taken it one step further.

Has anyone successfully RMAed a fried/broken PSU whose case has been opened? For my Enermax there is no seal on the case so there should be no way of telling.
