you can use a partitioning program to change it, my personal favorite is Partition Magic 8, although Swissknife should be able to do it too.

well, the rear fan, top fan, and CPU fan are running at full speed because i'm unable to control them, but the side fan is on Low. i'm sitting right next to it, and i honestly can't hear the thing..when i had a 60mm fan on the processor, it was a little screamer, and you could hear it in the kitchen...

if you were to make the top fan intake, and the rear fan where that radiator is, how would that change your temps? sounds somewhat silly to go against the rising heat, but it might chill better that way, but that would be because the top fan would bring in cool air, and that would spread around the ...

not the metal heatspreader, i looked at the actual silicon. you have the metal on top, but you have the silicon where the pins are. the heatspreader can be banged up to a point without causing a problem, but if the silicon is damaged, it affects the processor the most.

i'd rather not do that, as i've been mod and admin at other forums, it doesn't take much to see how much bandwidth posting an image really takes...its not hard to click links either. i posted the links like that on purpose.

heres a test that i created when a similar event happened to my P4 tower...turn it off, remove the heatsink, pop out the processor, and check the edges of the silicon. if any edges look like they're starting to seperate, you've got yourself a problem. if all the edges look fine and crisp [you just n...

Alright, i pretty much gave in and went to silence this computer, it went a lot easier than i'd though...there are just a few flaws i can't overcome with some hardware. 1) the PSU is loud and vibrates a lot, but with even quiet music playing, its drowned out, and i almost always have music playing, ...

You should do fine with 2gb in XP,stay away from Vista,it's Ram hungry. welllll..in terms of vista, run vista on an older machine with only 384mb of ram, and you'll see something strange. the system may perform much worse than a newer system, but you'll see that it isn't using all the ram. vista sp...

Nexus vs Aerocool. in what situations would one be better?

ok, so i've got a supermicro S2DGU, a 9 year old server running a pair of very hot processors. for a while i've been wanting to get better fans for it, and pull the number of fans down to 3. i have a general idea of what to use, but i want to know if people think slower would be just as good as fast...

reading that sooner could have changed things.

i'll say thats something new for me, but with my rigs being as old as they are, i'm not going to push it...it'll be harder to replace them than deal with their noise.

that clears that up.

its not that i'm against silencing it, but i'd like to know how you'd silence this coil whine. if i didn't have a processor fan in this, it would be silent, but i need one, its just a stock cooler.

realistically. yes, its annoying i realize that, and i understand silencing, but theres also a limit.

if its coming from the case, its most likely coil whine...basically, it happens with age and current. don't bother with directional mics, the ones that would really get the job done will cost you the better part of $300, not to mention the cables to connect it to a computer or something to give you ...
