bsods are generally a result of a low level error such as hardware issues. Have you tried going back to the stock bios? I don't see how. The maximum disk activity should be from recording with fraps, but that's fine. I have a dedicated hard drive to record raw videos. When I encode, virtualdub reads the video from that hard drive and saves the resulting encoded video to another hard drive.

It will definately run hotter though. I'm not sure if anyone has ever analyzed the heat in the fan hub where there's no airflow, but any extra heat is obviously a bad thing.
