Re: Fanless low-power Mini Server

Confirmed the Lexar "slow" CF card is less power hungry. Now avg power is 25W. I was thinking: I have a single 2048MB DDR2 module laying around, instead of expanding memory to 3072MB I could use a single stick instead of two to get 2048MB, that should cut a little more on the power meter disp...

Re: The Quiet Beast V2.0: Xigmatek Elysium and 12+ HDDs

Of course it depends on which HDD models you have. My WD RE4 drives (4xWD5003ABYX) are 7200 and enterprise but they seem to have only 1 platter and a good spindle motor that produces little vibrations and resonance. Old WD10EADS drives were always good at vibration (EARS are even better but they're ...

It seems that 11 fixi...

If you have adequate dexterity with hand/power tools you can make almost everything you want... Using a classic electric jigsaw to cut small holes on these panels I wouldn't recommend it, since it's big for these, maybe something like a Dremel. Or you can do it by hand and gradually like me: first t...

I have my HDDs in server SAS backplanes since 2009, without any kind of vibration dampening. And they vibrate very little.
