Neither model should pose much of a threat to Hyper 6 in terms per thermal performance
Yes, but the Hyper 6 is a 9cm high 1kg monster.
I refuse to strap that thing onto my Motherboard, no matter how silent it is.

It would depend on HOW powerful you need it.
for normal purposes a barton mobile should do

Athlon XP Mobile 2500+ (Barton core)
1.45v 45w

gak, If that's a mobile that's pretty high volts.

I was doing 210x11.5 = 2415Mhz @ 1.75 Volts
That was before the noise of the L1A @ 12v started to annoy me

If you wire it to the orig wires yes, if you hard wire it to 12v or 7v no.

There is still no clear concensous (speeling?) on which 120mm fan is better, papst or panaflo.

/me dork

It is quieter after the l1a mod. It was a rogue video card fan making all the noise.
But it is still not as quiet as I like. So now I've got a M1A at 7v, if that's not good enough I'll use a F1A at 5v

You really should add a case fan to exhaust the heat from the system. Otherwise the heat will get into the PSU and make the PSU fan spin fast. I had to mod the zalman with a panaflo to make is nore acceptable noise wise. Also in case you didn't know In oz Panaflo fans are avail from www.pccasegear.c...

Zalman 400a louder AFTER L1A mod

I replaced the fan in my zalman 400a with a panaflo L1A and the results are it's louder than stock. Since the L1A has a lower CFM it looks like the PSU spins it at max speed all the time. Summers can get pretty hot here in oz and I don't have air-com. What Can I do to safely fix this? a) fan isolato...

Barton and NF2, Overclock using the FSB and Vcore What are your load temps and what HSF are you using? Try using a smaller overclock first Maybe 180FSB, This will give you 180 x 11 = 1980Mhz If that doesn't work, you may have to increase your vcore or your HSF isn't up to the task of cooling an over...

What is the loudest thing in your system right now?

I'm guessing the only thing that will make any noticeable noise is your PSU. A higher powered PSU with a good efficiency and maybe a panaflo fan mod should fix this

Link here lists the Abit NF7-S as incompatible.

I'm not sure about revision 2 of the NF7 though, which includes mounting holes.
EDIT: found this "The Zalman requires a corner to be cut off to avoid bending a cap on NF7 boards"

:(
