Spec is correct. However, it isn't a horizontal obstruction. The two support bars run from front to back, and the SI97 probably sits somewhere close to the middle of those two. The space / clearance between the two support bars is 84mm the last time I measured. So, you can just pop a 80mm fan into t...

Be glad you don't have the temperature reporting bug firmware. Mine runs at '60 degrees C' idle. I believe it should be about a 20C miscalibration because the hard drive does seem warmer than my hand does. This hard drive isn't that quiet really.. I can hear it over all my fans [One 120mm at ~800rpm...

More voltage = more heat, so yes.

However, it wouldn't be too significant. As long as you have even a slight breeze over the fans, its fine.

It might be that your hand is actually vibrating. Some people's hands aren't very still, and even if you move it with two hands there's still the odd shake that you don't feel, but instead gets transferred to the cage.

Actually, they don't break that easily. If they do break, you can just ziptie the video card's sink to the card. Zipties can be VERY strong if you use them correctly.

Nono, that's not what I meant. I have a case which requires the motherboard to sit horizontally. Do you understand what I mean by the 'height' of the card now? Heatsinks

And, please keep reading. I'm planning to make the purchase of either a 7900GS or 7900GT. However, my case dictates the heatsink's dimensions, and that it cannot exceed the height of the video card's PCB. Therefore, I'm looking for a passive aftermarket solution that will allow me to run the card [n...

I have a question actually. Someone said that the Noctua fans seem to blow air in all directions which explains the poor static pressure. Did you ever try running memtest86+ on your system? It'll try to isolate for system errors. You can burn an ISO version onto a CD [and then restart and boot off the CD] - it'll run itself. If you see any errors, you know something is wrong with your RAM.

I can't remember where the link is, but it is from HTPC. -- Basically, it involves shaving the TR bracket so the lugs don't extend upwards. Then, you use the mounting system for the P4 socket [478] and go from there. Will post the link when I find it. There you go! http://www.htpcnews.com/forums/ind...

It may be that either

your card really IS running too hot
then in this case, recheck your mounting
the alarm tripoff in ccc is too low
if so then just put it up a bit higher

I believe it provides the card with 'two sources' of 12V. It gets 2 12V+ lines going to it - whether or not they're on different rails, this is PSU dependent, and dependent on which molexes you connect it to.

I am waiting too. The only thing thats stopping me from going out to get the P5B-VM is that it lacks PCI locks and does not support any memory which needs voltage higher than 1.95.

No PCI lock means bad overclocking! Yes, I'm one of those people who try to overclock and get a quiet system. :)
