what exactly is SMP, and how do I get it? Hi djkest , the answers, or most of, can be found here: http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-SMP.html Shorter answer, it's the folding client for multi core CPU's. Why bother? well on my XP2400+ single core I was pleased to get 100 PPD (points per day), on my cu...

Hi David, it's normal, Linux SMP does the same thing. IIRC it's something to do with cores waiting for all cores to finish their current bit before they all start together on the next bit/s. Future clients are hoped to lessen this. Pete P.S. sorry the for poor explanation, England is my first langua...

Another alternative for anyone [ shock ] using the search function [/ shock ] is R-Drive Image . There is a fully functional 15 day trial version. I'm currently using it on my laptop to copy the C-Drive to a new larger drive living on a USB connection... Will report if there are any problems. Pete

PPD is Points Per Day. Calculated by points awarded divided by time taken to complete WU. No Linux version offers any F@H, you have to install manually. Best way is to use finstall , it does a good job and can add monitors for you, though I would propose FahMon as a monitor. Google "gentoo finstall"...

4.6<19 means 4.9 is less than 19. You need an additional 4.9 and your supply is capable of 19. I apologize this this questions seem a little dumb but this is my first computer and I am still learning. Questions aren't dumb, answers can be. (I'm not refering to any in this thread!) Ask away. 8) Pete
