The Antec 300 or Antec Solo would be my picks, if you can find either <$50 free shipping. The 300 will definitely cool better, but the Solo isn't that stuffy with just one drive and it's a great silent case. Pick the one that's right for you.

Scythe Gentle Typhoon

I vaguely remember someone mentioning this fan here, but a search turned up nothing so here it is. Scythe Gentle Typhoon, available in 9cm and 12cm models and within each, different RPM models. http://www.scythe.co.jp/cooler/d0925c.html http://www.scythe.co.jp/cooler/d1225c.html What I've gathered f...

The biggest improvement will be overall airflow and fans. Not to say that the stock Antec fans are any good, but the ability to use 120mm fans (and 92mm/100mm for intake if necessary) already bests the 80mm fans.

Nexus is just kind of underwhelming in terms of air pushed. They're certainly quiet, but I prefer my slowed down Kama Flex. Same with the 12cm offerings, but that's a different topic. :P

Thermalright Ultra(Ultima)-90 fits the bill. Check the dimensions on that, but it's a rather small heatsink. If you can fit a 92mm fan centered above the CPU socket without hitting the PSU, it should be fine.

I am wondering how useful are these in case applications (exhaust and CPU fan). As an exhaust, air would be out of the case anyway. As a CPU fan, the fan is most likely pushed tight against the HS (TRUE/Ninja). I see limited performance benefit using these things. Hope to see a review soon. You're ...

It's seriously about time they got these over here in America. I've always read that they were some of the best 92mm fans, but somehow they were just empty from the Scythe lineup in NA.

I know the 2 Nexuses on the front of my Solo are going to get replaced by these.

I've found that for my uses tower (side flow) coolers have been better. It contributes to overall airflow of the case (I use a Solo). People say top flow coolers help cool mobo components, but I don't think that's too much of an issue with overall low heat components and decent case airflow. Not tha...

If you can afford it, replace the Tri-Cool with anything else like a Scythe Jyuni, S-Flex, Nexus, or Yate Loon depending on your needs and budget. I find all Tri-Cools untolerable even on Low, and their airflow at that speed is pretty bad too.

Another vote for the Accelero S1/S2. With a big case like the P180, it should be fine. If not, just put a quiet fan blowing on/near/through it and it'll be perfect.

There are some retailers that sell them for around 200, but they run out really quick. Once this hype dies down, it should stay rather affordable as long as people stop paying ridiculous amounts.

With current technology, I don't think it's possible to get such CFMs without higher RPMs 1500 and higher, and then at such RPMs you won't get very quiet results.

Wall powered fan tester

I know SPCR uses their own fan tester with voltage display, but I was wondering if there was a cheaper fan tester with less features for sale at any stores. I vaguely remember seeing one at some somewhat known parts retailer, but I can't seem to find it again.

I've read some reviews that say the S-FLEX pushes less air and is less quiet than these new KAZE-JYUNI fans. This is probably due to the ball bearings in the S-FLEX that give them their long life, but the JYUNI series are supposed to last 3 years on 24/7 operation, which is rather long for <$10 fans.

It'll probably go faster on stock voltage, and you may need an aftermarket northbridge cooler as well, depending on chipset. But anyway, back to the topic. If you have enough airflow, the Ninja might handle it. Otherwise you might be able to get away with an Ultima-90 instead of the 120eX. But yeah,...

I use an Ultra-90 (not Ultima) with a 92mm Nexus in a Solo setup because the Ultra-120 is way too big for it, and I get fine temps. Not too low, but really stable and no problems. The 120mm exhaust right near it helps a good deal, I assume. If you're not overclocking a lot, like you say, the lighter...

From my experience, the biggest factor is the room layout. If your bed is away from the computer, you can have a couple 12cm Nexuses at 12V running without any bad noise. I'd say your HDD suspension is excessive since it's already a 2.5" drive, but hey, your choice. The Katana2 is a good cheap heats...
