I'm eyeing this case also for a WHS build.

Waiting for the case as well and see if any mods can be made to take on more HDs. A simple SFX (to ATX mount) PSU bracket would probably free up more room as well. Or can you already mount an SFX PSu in that case?

More pics when you get going!

Thanks!

Quiet, low-power, modular PSU?

For a mini-ITX/WHS. I'll be using an ITX case that takes an ATX PSU (Lian-Li PC-Q7) Only thing is I haven't found any modular PSU's that are below 400 watts. :( ...and I don't need that much power for an Atom board and 2 HDs. I'd rather not go PICO. (unless absolutely necessary) Is my only other cho...

Advice for SFF/WHS mini-ITX build

Lian-Li PC-Q7 or Sugo 5 Intel BOXD945GCLF2 2x 1TB WD10EADS This is what I've got so far planned for a WHS build. I only need 2TB, and trying to keep the whole project ~$400 With the HDs. The PC-Q7 fits an ATX case, though I haven't found a modular one that's below 400 watts. Thanks for any suggestio...

You may wnat to look at the WD10EVCS.

Its basically a Green drive, tweaked for AV and streaming use.

I have one on a TiVO HD. Silent and cool.

sadly, nothing worthwhile measuring noise.

BTW. Does anyone know if the Fujitsu MHZ2320BJ is a single-platter HD? I've checked the data sheet and no indication.

Thanks!

I vote for a roundup as well.

I need to replace the HD in my wife's MacBook Pro soon and have been looking the Fujitsu MHZ2320BJ.

All the reviews regarding it better acoustically (vibration and otherwise) compared to the WD drives have been anectdotal at best.

Thanks!

I haven't considered the Cavair black but I certainly will. I am currently using Samsung's HD501LJ drives in my PC and I just want a faster C drive with no additional noise penalty. That seems like the Black then. I have the same Samsung as you do, and though it is quiet. It is on the slower side. ...

Purely anectdotal to my experience and particular usage of the drive: I have a 1TB Ecogreen, I had used on a TivoHD upgrade. It was noisy, not the read, but the seeks. This even after setting AAM to QUIET mode. I replaced it with a WD10EVCS (same as EADS) and the WD drive is much quieter. I've since...

You can stick the VRMs with 3M Thermal tape (Frag Tape). I have these on my 9600GT and they're holding much heavier copper sinks than the stock aluminum from the Accelero. Becasue of the odd layout of the ram chips on my 9600, some of the chips are actually on the under side, which means the copper ...

it should be under or ~US$100, and one guy actually has 4 HDs in there using a Scythe HD bracket.

Seems like a good deal with a 300 watt PSU and Silverstone quality.

Sugo SG05 (mini-ITX)

Not sure if posted already, but case looks pretty good.

120mm fan for this form factor is nice!

If there was a way to fit 2x 3.5" HDs in there, it would be perfect for me.
