I agree with Radeonman. The bigger the fan the less nose for the same airflow. However.. if you have too big a fan you might not be able to adjust downwards as much as you like. And as for damping. It might be easier to block high frequency sounds. But as I said they escape much easier. And low freq...

fmah: I think they make the pipes mobo model specific. The point is to buy the whole machine from them, with the heatpipe solution. Then they have a selection of motherboards they can use. The price isnt that bad either. Like 1900 Euro for a decent machine. Rod M: I think it is that company who make...

Hmm.. this guy made his own 'gravity'-pipes. Is there no way to buy already made heatpipes with fluid and wick in it? I saw somewhere that there existed elastic bendable (joint locations) ones even. In that case one can, with some metal working, make some blocks to connect to heatspots and Alu case.

Well.. one could maybe do it passively with some aluminium or copper plates. Similarly to SilentDrive (not smartdrive). Seems like some HD cooling solutions mainly cools the longer sides of the HD. Maybe its enough to cool these properly. Main problem is to make an enclosure that is both quiet, cool...

You could check the Samsung 5400 rpm variants. Cheap, the Spinpoint V60 120 Gb was even quieter (idle) than CudaIV in a Tomshardware test (measured value). SpinPoint V80 160 Gb is probably a good buy right now.

How to adjust one FSP. Might not be the one you have but it should not be that different: http://www.thenakedreview.com/index.php?p=showarticle&id=71 Well the VCore will be derived from the +5V (unless your mobo is one of the few recent ones that also uses the 4 pin 'P4' power connector as well). Can of worms. :) Generally speaking the fan relations probably holds. But some fans might have other characteristics. As for sound dampening you know that there are 'blocking' and 'absorbing' types? Different densities of material absorb and reflect different frequencies. High freq sounds are easier...

Mobo refuse to undervolt

Greets. I have an old Asus A7V133 running a TB 1333 Mhz. I have known for some time that it was possible to undervolt on my mobo. I can even do it without jumpers. I gave up that idea a long time ago because I thought that you had to underclock while undervolting. MikeC has proven me wrong in his ar...

Noisecontrol.de has two models. The plain somewhat noisy PPFC variant. And one they mod themselves with a Papst fan and their own verified thermal regulation circuit. So it is probably as silent or moreso than the non-PFC variant. Only problem is the price. :P

Not many games where CPU instruction speed matters. Some games memory bandwidth matters though. First and foremost its gfxcard that matters.. then more RAM. CPU third.. HD last. That is runtime.
