Is it not better to pick the new Athlon II X2 250? Not all too pricey, way better performance than the old Athlons and also it's 3.0Ghz!. and still only 65watt TDP. Under volt it and you should probably get even lower. Though the initial price off it might be to much maybe? It's about 40-50% more t...

I used a Titan Copper VGA cooler to replace the NB fan/heatsink on my old Asus A8N-SLI DELUXE as the fan died on it, didn't bother whit trying to get a new fan from Asus as it was a bother and I knew the new fan would probably die sooner than later again. The specific model number is TTC-CUV2AB/RHS(...

Just a little update. After much messing and trying back and forth diffrent ideas and whatnot to try and get the computer to run cooler I found a suggestion on having the front fan pushing air out off the case rather than inside would lower temps quite effectively. I tried this and it works wonders....

Dell has probably gone and switched the wire layout to get DELL exclusive fans. I.E. you can't pop in any fans but but the dell ones. OEM FTW! Besides. On normal retail motherboards the fan connectors are quite different. Normally only 3 pins for non PWM fan connectors and 4 for pwm capable connecto...

Something I'm interesting in seeing more is a HTPC gaming machines. And the DTX+E thing I suggested could work quite nicely in such a environment. We could today actually have a "Console PC" instead off a PS3, XBOX360 etc. You would only need to create a few standards these computers need to follow ...

This was a really interesting topic. Got me to think about this myself and I came to a simple and effective solution. No need to major overhauls just create a extra add-on specification that motherboards and add-on PCI etc cards may use as well as chassi makers to make it go all around. It requires ...

a single graphics card doesn't need 500watts... no way close. going sli or just having mutiple graphics cards then you might start a need for 500watts and above. The HX520 is all good to go for your system as it is currently, and still have loads off room to spare. Minimum? Makes me laugh! Jus...

I think you would most likely need to find some small form factor PSU whit a rated spec off about 250-300watt rather trying to use a PicoPsu whit a external AC-DC conversion. There are rather powerfull bricks (200watt or maybe more if I remember correctly), I've seen them before but they are huge ug...

I undervolt my current computer to get less heat from it. It has just turned 1 year old. It's a Phenom X4 9750 whit amd stock heatpipe cooler. Though it's on it's 3rd motherboard already. On stock voltage 1.3v it gets just ridiculously hot in my setup. I have it set to 1.175v in bios which actually ...

AMD Stock heatpipe cooler sudenly decided to go 4927rpm?!
I've been messing a bit whit my computer these last days trying different fan configurations/positions/speeds to get more silent and cooler temperature. Trying to find the most quiet combination to decent cooling in short. Well today I encountered a weird phenomena... My AMD stock fan started to go ...

Yeah this case is practically only designed for 1 hdd and 2 other 3.5 things like a floppy drive and maybe a smart card reader not 3 hdd's as I have in it. Those two 3.5 bays whit openings outside are a pain in the ass to get hard drives in if you want to keep the front plates there. Took me ages to...

From what you have suggested ntavlas I myself would only about think off doing is the cpu cooler swap, and get a bigger fan to pull air inside from the side air intake. a 70mm fan is kinda small for the huge potential of a fan to be placed there. Problem is I need to cut into the dvd-cage holder to ...

Hi all. Been away for a little while but I was here quite a lot for a little while 1 year back when I was planning my new computer which was supposed to become a smaller and more silent system than my old really loud one, and it would have enough punch to handle most stuff I thought. Well I felt lik...
