Adaptor to use notebook CD-ROM on standard IDE

Does anyone know if there is an adaptor out there that would let me use a notebook CD drive on a standard desktop? I want to build get a SFF. Since I have a dead notebook computer, I want to reuse some of the parts. Also, since it smaller, I have more space inside and that should make it easier to c...

I notice something last night. My dell notebook went toast on me, so I got a USB 2.0 2.5" external case for the drive so I can use it for my desktop. When the drive was in my notebook, it made a lot of noise. Now, it is silent and I didn't even put the cover on or screw it in yet. Does anyone have a...

Anyone try using 2 fanless PS?

How about 2 150w Fanless PS in a case or one inside and the second outside. One in standard location and another at the bottom of the case or outside mounted. You could run the motherboard, floppy, and CD off one unit. HD(s) and other fans off of the second PS. Of coarse you might have to put a seco...

I just put together a SK41G system with an AMD 1700+ OC to 1900+. They are not quiet! Once the autoguardian kicks in, bring out the ear plugs. I think there are several ways to reduce the noise thus reducing noice. First, CUT the grill. About half the area of both exhause fan is cover by the grill. ...

Help w/ air flow noise

Will, I hacked up my cheap PS this past weekend so it is much quieter. I put in a MNB (?) fan that I heard about from the hot deal forum and some fan isolators from SA. There is no fan noise and fan vibration that I can heard, however, the air flow noise it apparent. I have already cut the fan grill...

Temp problem solution

I see you found out the hard way about a classic and offend forgotten problem. The fan frame is there not just to support the motor, but it is also design to direct the air follow. An easy solution is to use some round tubings around the fan to sub for the frame. You could either attach the rope (co...
