Alistair: I dont know why your temps are that high, mine never goes over 42c. Try underclocking the BUS to about 100MHz and see if that does it. You have a 2000+ Palamino that runs at 42c? Everyone: My chip of choice right now would be a Barton 2800, kick @$$! Only problem is that I dont know if I ...

Current AMD XP of choice?
A popular topic I'd like to follow up on after examining these threads: Coolest AMD CPU & Athlon XP vs. MP and the AMD spreadsheet that stsmytherie posted: http://www.mishu.com/AthlonXPspecs.zip Situation: Currently running a 2000+ XP Palamino that is a bitch to cool. I have an Thermalright SK-7 & 8...

Smart Drive runs cooler? how do you figure that? The no vibes is in open air, so air is not trapped and runs all around your drive.. and you can use a fan to increase this air flow. The smart drive makes no sense. At $70 it will cost you more than a new 40gb seagate which has no whine, so save your ...

I'm surprised to hear Silicon Acoustics doesn't carry Seasonic anymore, and even more surprised that they reported the nexus being 'better'. Having purchased both, I disagree. The stock Seasonic is 'slightly' louder than the Nexus. The Nexus is a Fortron, and doing a fan swap on those is a huge pain...

Seasonic are still my power supply of choice. Above the rest they are more efficient, generally cheaper, and allow for easy modding for us silent freaks. Distribution and marketing is not they're strong point, but they are a huge company (Seasonic factories produce about a half-million units per mon...

They all have the ability to use acoustic management. Incorrect. Barracuda SATA drives do not currently support the AAM (acoustic management software) and people here who have these drives are complaining they are much louder. for more info see threads: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.ph...

As are many of us, I'm having a difficult time figuring out any motive. You have a great product, consumers here agree, and we welcome you to talk to us UP FRONT . That is called a great opportunity, and you made it self-sabotage. in one puppet show, digitalix talks to sammy (himself): http://forums...

I've used the letter carrier many times and although its a good service, i wouldn't go to the trouble of driving 30 mins each way from the city and dealing with importing for just one PSU. If something is available in canada i recommend buying it here even if it means paying another $5-15. The Nexus...

I'm not worried. Humanity always fluxes and changes. We used coal before we used fossil fuels, and we used trees before that and we used horses before that. The sun is a limitless energy source. Generally the lower the fans, the cooler the air, so having good airflow from the bottom front of the case is nice. That said, having your drives there can either hinder your airflow or keep them cooler at the same time. You don't need a ton of airflow to keep your drives cool, but as you point out,...

isolating the fan is by far the best solution here - if you don't mind potentialy voiding your warranty to do the mod. no other method is as clear and effective. a variation of this (for regular 80mm fans), which actually may make the mod easier, is to remove the fan from inside the unit and mount i...
