Re: Why is Corsair VX450 so hard to find for sale? Alternati

If you are willing to give up the Corsair name, you can buy a low-end Seasonic. The down side is that Seasonic does not have the same high standard of quality control and product consistency that Corsair imposed. Seasonic makes the "S12II" power supplies in 6 sizes, from 380 watts up to 629 watts. ...

Re: AMD A8-3850 Quad Core Desktop APU

Speaking of undervolting, I wonder how a Llano APU would respond, considering SPCR's sample ran at 1.40v... a lot of volts for even a 65nm CPU. A8-3850 is a 32 nm HKMG SOI chip with a 100W TDP. A8-3800 is practically just as fast but has a 65W TDP. And right now they are selling every one they make...

Re: AMD A8-3850 Quad Core Desktop APU

Considering that 1333MHz doesn't cost much less than 1600, faster memory costs enough to pay for a discrete GPU and Llano is pointless if you don't need a GPU I think 1600 is the only point that makes sense. It boosts fps by 10-15%. For me in the US looking at prices I see DDR3 2000 and 1866 module...

Re: What reasons *not* to use Antec solo?

Fractal Design and Corsair both make cases far better then the solo - I would add some of the Lancool cases to the list.. So reasons include - MUCH better wiring, far better cooling, better setup (things like a bottom mounted power supply), more room to work in and better quality. I am not the firs...

Johnnie, I'm not sure what you are saying has anything to do with this thread; whether or not what you are saying is true. Re: Recommendations for a good 16:10 aspect gaming monitor?

After having purchased a brand-spanking new computer, I'm now looking to get a new monitor as well. Unfortunately, it seems most hardware review sites don't place a high priority on reviewing monitors (and even less emphasis on noise levels). So I turn once again to the collective wisdom of the SPC...

Probably need to wait a month+ for more mobo's to hit retail and the frenzy of Bios updates to settle and then look at some reviews for more practical power results. That said, Llano would make for a decent HTPC/light gaming rig. Looks like the HQV results are decent and it puts up some nice fps fo...

But the toggle functionality does not turn off the higher end card. I don't want idle. I want off so that it doesn't draw any power and creates 0db noise. My standards for business class computers is sub 10db noise level during general productivity usage. What 580, 590, 6970, or 6990 has sub 10db a...

I see. I was not aware of the degree to which larger fans had replaced smaller ones in general. Since I already have this case (Solo), and since 92mm fans are still available at this time, assuming the use of a fan controller, PWM header, or volt mod, how do two 92mm fans compare to a single 120mm ...

Re: What reasons *not* to use Antec solo?

Why change the (2) 92mm to (1) 120mm fan? I thought I read (here) that two 92's would have more airflow at the same noise level than a single 120. Is that incorrect? 92mm fans are less common now than they were in the past. It's harder to find cheap 92mm fans with low RPMs than it is to find a low ...

Hi, Ksanderash If I recall correctly, AM2 boards will support AM2 cpus and AM2+ cpus. Not AM3 cpus. You will probably do best with an Athlon 64 or some Phenom processors (9000-series, 920, 940) The definition of AM2 and AM2+ is so vague it's probably just weasel talk from the lawyers/marketers more...

This case is definitely not to the SOLO what the SOLO was to earlier offerings, but it's not absolutely horrible. Maybe if they had called it SOLO 1.1 If it truly has a front 120mm mount then I'd say Solo 1.2 would be more apt :) And really if it were a $50 case instead of a $100 case I wouldn't be...

IMO, it's just another on of those "fanless" products that needs a fan close by or at least some serious airflow... I'll take that any day over a video card with a 40mm or 60mm fan a non standard fan header and a heat sink so small that even a 120mm fan won't cool it quietly. I'll also take it over...
