this board is a ga-n680sli-dq6? then it should have two fan control settings in the bios. one set for the CPU fan, and one - with less detail control - for the system fan. By default, the latter is disabled . Also, FWIW, I recently backed out a BIOS upgrade for another gigabyte board - ga-p35-ds4 - ...

My points per day should increase 2500 -> 3500 if these preliminary results obtained from checkpoint intervals are to be trusted. With 3500 PPD I'd be the producer number #7, between avidan and Dutchmm. Smile I doubt I can improve on my 3000 to 3300 ppd until later this summer, when I can fix to si...

Intriguing

Hmm AntecRep has got me thinking. I got the impression that my rear exhaust fan was making too much noise because the P182 was too close to the wall. You know, noise bouncing off a hard surface, or something. So I moved it further from the wall, and a tad towards me, and it does sound a bit quieter....

I am very pleased with the Corsair HX520 that runs in my P182, but the Tagan in my wife's Sonata is very noisy. I am thinking of replacing it, and the Earth Watts is half the price of the Corsair. My wife has even less need of watts than I, so I don't want to waste unnecessary money here, I might ge...

Passive 8600 GTS

Well, i guess they would work well, but wouldn't the overall temp. in the computer rise? I am running the MSI version of this GPU, passively cooled. I don't game, but using it to watch TV, or for photo editing, the temperature never goes over 49 - and it never goes much below 46 - the ambient tempe...

The Thetford fridges are absorption fridges, the kind yefi was asking about. I have to say I am the kind of electricity consumer who just pays the bills without looking at which appliances are ruining me - I even use an oven with a pyrolytic cleaning program - but I think I would notice if my fridge...

Yes, I've seen that. It has a mutiplier of 7, like the E6300
The limit is 8 - I am running my FSB at 400. Which is easy. I am waiting until my wife's 2160 is up and folding to see whether I can run the FSB at 3500/9. If I could do that in my head, I could have gone on working as a CPA ROFL.

Gross or freezer compartment?

I looked at the stats for some refrigerators here. The numbers they are quoting suggest an annual consumption of ~1000 Kwh, for a 100l gross enclosure with an 11l freezer. Or did you mean a teeny tiny fridge?

Actually, if you read the article here , you will see that there is a standard rig and methodology. So you should be able to get an objective view of the relative merits of a heatsink. According to fahinfo.org, you can get around 255 PPD per gigahertz per core from the Phenom. That's 1020 PPD per gigahertz. In Europe, a locked Phenom costs around Euro 80 per Ghz. An unlocked phenom comes in around Euro 90 per Ghz at its nominal clock speed, but will probably (evidence, anyone?) OC...

When folding not all work units are the same size. That is why you can get a relative benchmark from the fahinfo website. I agree this does not benchmark the effectiveness of some particular OC setting, but it should give us a relative indication of how well we are doing.

No such thing as a stupid question ....

You need to make a choice between letting the PSU control your fans, and controlling them via the switches that Antec provides (look at the bottom paragraph on page 5 of the P182 manual). What this translates to - in your situation - is that you could set the lower fan on high, and connect it to the...

I am not surprised your tea last night was bitter if you used colder water The reason the English (yes, despite the nick, I am a Brit) insist on having the water boiling hot when we pour it is that it enables more of the flavours to escape from the leaves before, as someone remarked earlier, the thr...

So that sort of tea strainer makes the tea tastier than a tea-bag? How so? Well, the loose leaf tea you can buy from specialist shops is much better than the tea you can get in bags from the volume manufacturers. And cheaper than the tea bags you get from niche vendors.
