Ok points taken, I will flip the hdd upside down.
But as far as hdd temps go, it is between 30 and 35 C, so really not an issue.

Re: Simple Chieftec ATX i7 / 750ti build.
Also no issues with dust/cleaning, all panels are solid, no mesh, you can easily wipe it (compared to various gimmky ventilation solutions in modern cases). Nicely clean build, as usual coming from you. Just for the sake of curiosity, which are the load temps using the typical SPCR stress-testing t...

Simple Chieftec ATX i7 / 750ti build.
The idea was, to use old chieftec server atx case, that was really cheap (ebay), and in my opinion, beats many expensive cases with sound dampening. Chieftec WH-01B-B. http://i.imgur.com/6OFcfxR.png http://i.imgur.com/DsT3uDM.png Case is made out of very thick steel panels (compared to what is used ...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
By the way: that desk you have there looks pretty awesome too! I have never seen anything like that. I have tried once to make something primitive myself but I never fully went through with it, to my dismay. It looks as though it encloses your position and body a little *too* much, but it's one hel...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
Congratulations, it's a very nice looking build! :D The open case you are using interests me, but it seems like there is no hole on the bottom of the chassis right where the PSU fan is located. How does the PSU sit in there - is there any space between the top of the PSU and the case chassis for th...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
Well, obviously I compare to turned off drive. When I mean I can't hear something from certain distance, I mean, I cant distinguish the difference between turned on and off. I'm not sure if it doesn't depend on specific unit though. Heard quite a bit of opinions that these drives were audiable at 1m...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
Small update, 1 platter WD10RZRX + foam.
Works pretty well. You can obviously hear it when you put your ear next to it, but from 1m distance I can't hear it.

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power
One thing you can be sure, if there is simple aluminium brick, with no heatpipes at all, this will have trouble during heavy loads. 750ti chip doesn't need powerful cooler, but seems like even 2 heatpipes are really making the difference. I remember having HD7770 with simple aluminium cooler (no hp)...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power
When it comes to gtx750ti, the msi gaming model is really quiet. Fan locked at 32% (can’t get it lower while connected to card pcb), runs fans at around 900RPM. These fans are about 100mm diameter, very slim, run really quiet. You can compare it to regular 120mm fan at very low speed (400rpm?), cons...

It was deal with someone from hardware forums, you can't get it anymore.
But as far as cooling potential goes, I believe accelero s1 plus should be very close if not better.

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
The fans were for testing purposes only.
And btw, in case of those enermax fans, frame is actually made out of aluminium (the round part).

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
Small update, testing what happens if I add fans. Quietest fans I had, enermax uctb12 @ 5v, 480rpm. They are really quiet to the point I can't tell if they are on from around 1m distance. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-o0KgG57gQWk/U6sX1DuzLpI/AAAAAAAABck/O9AgPGcw7yc/s1200/u222_1.jpg Results, I c...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
Case is normally used by me, not a htpc solution. Pics are taken in living room, just beceause there was better light. Previously I used different benchtable with fans, overclocked cpu (same i7 @ 4.8 ) and gtx670. Was also very quiet as all fans were running below their starting speed. https://lh3.g...

Re: Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
About the ssds, it probably depends what brand/model. I'm having hard time hearing mine. As for the little details, of course you're right. There are people who paint capacitors with nail polish, just to perfectly match their color theme :) I'm not there yet. Motherboard can be replaced though, it i...

Fanless i7 + 750ti benchtable open case
This is one of my builds, this time decided to go fanless, after having really good results with air cooling and open cases. As expected, 100% passive, without any airflow isn't that simple, and while open case works great with slow fans (compared to even very well ventilated conventional case), if ...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power
I will post everything in gallery sometime soon, not finished yet. My goal is to build fanless spec, with that 750ti and i7 2700k cooled by hr-22. Cpu turned out to be little tricky, but settled at 4ghz @ 1.1v. Psu used in this build is RM750, which never turns on the fan (it did not turn it, even w...

Msi gaming 750ti fanless, with xigmatek bifrost (http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=124) cooler: Note that xigmatek cooler is not anything special in terms of efficiency, I picked it mainly for the looks (anodized black). I suspect it is about as good as accelero s1 plus (given the size a...

Re: List of fanless laptops
11 inch, it is pretty much tablet with a keyboard. I would love to get at least 15'' fanless laptop (preferably 17). Easy to do for designer, as large case fits larger heatsinks. But they are just refusing to make units like that. If you pick office type of dell 17'' notebooks, with really low tdp h...

get one of phobya 180x25mm fans, they are cheaper and quieter than silverstone (not as good performance on higher speeds, but you don't want that)

Pump is very quiet. Its silent even from 10cm. Any way you can recognize it runs only by touching. Then you can feel little vibration, but absolutely no sound. Construction and price of this pump is similar to central heating hot water pumps. Laing and Grundfos hot water pumps fe: http://www.cabuild...
