Recent experience proves that it's no good with the generic 780i boards from evga/bfg, etc. There's enough constriction near the socket area from caps, etc, that you can't mount the default hardware flush... perhaps with some kind of adapter. It mounts just fine in the normal direction though. Quite...

I'll throw in my points for the Saitek II as well. Been using one for several months now, and it has a very nice 'feel' to it when typing. Only minor complaint is when gaming, it doesn't handle multiple keypresses very well. It doesn't do anything BAD that I've noticed, but it definitely ignores fou...

Hokay. Fiddled around some more with the linux box. Removed the two top fans, and replaced with... nothing. Out of curiousity, has anyone on these forums ever experimented with high flow fans... say... deltas... alongside low voltage mods to run them at reduced speeds? Curious about the resulting sound levels... www.sidewindercomputers.com (no I don't represent, naturally) In particular, they've got some ...

Oh yes. One hopefully very helpful suggestion here. Take the time to calculate the volume of air in the room, and how long it can sustain a human being/beings over time without becoming 'fouled'... If you're going to close the door, make sure you set a stopwatch or something to remember to open the ...

Alas, I must apologize. No pics because... well, no camera. Perhaps someday. Negative/Positive pressure... Negative pressure means there's more air trying to exit the case due to fans, than there is actively trying to come into the case due to fans. Perhaps if you only have a psu, or a psu and a cas...

My guess is, it's because the 120's are pulling part of their airflow from around the sides of the drive cage. On the 'far' side of the drivecage, at the front of the case, the material (steel, I think) is perforated to allow airflow, and of course the nearside is somewhat open between the side of t...

Chenbro has several nice selections. Not horribly expensive, and mine (an SR107), is fairly quiet in terms of the case, as well. Mind you, the pc power and cooling psu is a bit taxing on the ears, but I don't have the money to spare to just replace it, vs other things that need money spent on them. ...

In open air, that raptor will be extremely noticeable during seeks, even suspended. I'd recommend finding a smartdrive, or SOMETHING, to put it inside, to dampen the noise. Positive pressure designs tend to collect less dust due to the fact that the air comes into the case through a single location... key here is to filter that intake. If you don't, you'll get approximately the same amount of dust in the case. The nice thing is, if you do filter it, the positive pressu...
