Re: AMD Radeon HD 6570 & 6670 Budget GPUs
I'm assuming it was this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161374 a spare 80mm or 92mm fan secured directly to the face of that relatively flat black heatsink would do quite a bit more for cooling that style card than a fan at the front or top of the case. as for the case...

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6570 & 6670 Budget GPUs
well, so I have had the card in for about 3-1/2 months and had some problems. So after I put the fan in the front, things did not get any better. I was getting a lot of weird lines across the screen to the point where menus were not even readable. This would carry through even when I exited the med...

1) PSU Support Bar - Most annoying thing ever with the original. Why is it here still? So its removable ... why even have it in the first place if people are just going to remove it time and time again? 2) PSU Top Mount - As a continuation of the prior point, I suppose. The support bar is needed th...

Re: 2011 SSD pricing (for drives >= Intel G2 X-25V 40GB perf
For Win 7 users the Crucial/Micron M4 seems like the place to be to me. What about these findings/reasonings ? That was the last review I read before posting the pricing update. I read that review page for page and was shocked when they still recommended Sandforce drives with as little reservations...

Re: 2011 SSD pricing (for drives >= Intel G2 X-25V 40GB perf
I have some egg on my face for predicting that the Intel 320 with 25nm flash would result in major price drops after the initial honeymoon period. Look at the 300GB model, a monstrous 1.8% price drop in 5 months. The Vertex 3 has emerged as a value buy but I have no idea if the early reliability co...

I would jump on this with both feet if my 70+ year old father weren't using the downstairs portion of my split foyer house. I'm thinking a concrete slab that is 4 feet below ground on one side of the room wouldn't be a bad thing. All that earth blocking noise from a decent portion of the vertical he...

Ducts and air straightener filters are options but lets not jump the gun. You say you went scythe 120mm 800 rpm but you didn't say which one. They make 12mm thick, 25mm thick, and 38mm thick in a number of motor/blade combinations. I'm assuming you didn't get the Slipstream Slim SY1212SL12 S L. If y...

I'd hope, with platinum levels of efficiency, the waste power/heat would be low enough that even a mediocre cooling design can be quiet. This isn't just platinum levels, it exceeds 80 Plus Platinum levels of efficiency. Gotta wonder with something that efficient why it isn't fanless, using a fan co...

http://ecomastertek.com/psu_epm600awt.php ENERMAX Platimax 600W EPM600AWT Fan is 600 RPM at idle and 1500RPM max not bad but definitely not 0 RPM at idle like some of the newer high efficiency PSUs. Re: Upgrading fans from Antec Tri-Cool - what to get??
is there any tangible benefits/disadvantages to mounting a fan at position 4(the outer middle position)? As your labeling goes fan 4 and 5 are at the front of the case and are more easily heard if the front of the case faces the user. Most users try to move 5 to the position directly below 3 if the...

TechpowerUp has great reviews but good question: how are they on noise measurement? They use a Bruel & Kjaer sound meter which is the same brand SPCR used to use before the chamber was built. I trust TechpowerUP's sound readings at 25 dBA and higher. Anything below 25 dBA and the readings get squas...

It'd be interesting to see a list with power draw at specified brightness levels. My 42" LCD TV in the living room doesn't vary by more than a few watts no matter how low or high I set the brightness and it is well over 100W for the single screen. I'll have to try that experiment with the 22" LCD I'...

PS: shouldn't your cpu fan be on other side of the heatsink, positioned towards the exhaust? In the pictured rig the top exhaust and rear exhaust are both close enough that putting a fan on that side of the heatsink would have no effect at low RPMs, better to have it as pictured if you run all the ...

Re: Upgrading fans from Antec Tri-Cool - what to get??
If money is no concern grab the Scythe Sflex of the RPM you desire. Maybe 800 RPM for everything but the CPU HS and 1200 RPM for the CPU HS. depending on where you are you might be able to get Scythe slipstreams noticeably cheaper than the SFlex. They are quiet but the SFlex lasts longer and the SFl...

That way you can ensure that all the data written to the drive stay in the first 50gb of the drive. I understand that running many benchmark creates a huge amount of writes / delete to the drive. When you delete a file, the data itself is not deleted but rather simply the index and new data will be...

Wow, 35w seems a bit steep, maybe thats peanuts on the total power bill. 6 x 22 w = 132 w Say a typical system is around 65w, add 35w for GFX board that is 65+35+132 = 232 w, not that bad when you know six screens are running I have to admit. Ghosting etc... I don't know, this 7 year old 23" monito...
