Re: AMD Fusion E350 Mini-ITX motherboards
Ya, I also think Fusion E350 ITX boards are way too expensive for the time being. It costs an arm and a leg to purchase Gigabyte, MSI Fusion E350 board in my country. I AM waiting for a low-end, budget Fusion E350 board to tinker with. And tramall, your 15W IDLE is just amazing!!! Look forward...

Re: Which one is the best fan of these?
Well, I've Gentle Typhoon 1450RPM, Scythe Slipstream 1200RPM, Enermax CLUSTER 1200RPM(PWM variety), so I can share my thoughts about these fans. They're all very quiet below 800RPM, it's difficult to discern it in a well-enclosed case like Antec P182. 1. I find GT's airflow is a bit low in compariso...

I recommend Seasonic X400 if money is no issue. After all, fanless is the quietest PSU money can buy except coil whine.

Re: SG03 build, looking for some fan advice
1.You may try to dial down the fans your own like Gentle Typhoon 1850. That said, your fans may be too loud by SPCR standard to begin with..... For example, I liked my GT 1450, but I deemed it quiet enough below 900RPM. 2.Were I you, I'd examine lower fan RPM while trying to maintain system stabilit...

Anyone heard anything more about the availability of the New Generation Intel 510 "Emcrest" SSDs? They will be released on March 1st: http://vr-zone.com/articles/intel-510-series-sata3-ssd-launch-on-1st-march/11231.html# Well, Intel 510 is available now in my country, but the price is prohibitively...

Re: 60w enough for undervolted sempron 140, 785g and ssd?
Frankly, I don't think continuous load is an issue. Instead, power-on peak value would concern me given HDD may draw up to 20W during such a short period of time! But any quality power brick should sustain a short period of power-on load. All in all, try to find a quality 60W/80W power brick which i...

Re: Needing to Build a Quiet Digital Audio Workstation!
I'm sorry, but I really don't see the point of purchasing GTX580 and AX1200 for DAW PC. AX1200 is a waste for your usage. To make matters worse, given GTX580's voracious appetire, you'll have difficulty cooling GTX580 while making PC as quiet as possible. A more reasonable choice may be GPU Radeon56...

What's your limit of case height? If height is no issue, I'd get Xigmatek D1284 given its cheaper price and better cooling. capability. Otherwise, Big shuriken is recommended for lower/tighter case dimension.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Asus s775 boards: Cant make speedstep undervolt at idle
From my experience, ASUS usually had an option called "offset" in CPU Voltage. Through "offset," I could adjust frequency/voltage without losing EIST's advantages like lower frequency/voltage/power consumption. Btw, try to update the board with latest bios which may also address overclocking/overvol...

If I remembered correctly, there should be an "Offset Voltage" option in CPU voltage adjustment where you could overvolt/overclock during load and undervolt/underclock at idle through EIST.

Re: Worth replacing MSI Cyclone cooler?
I'm afraid you can't find an aftermarket cooler which fits your target -- SLI. Since most display card coolers in the market are huge, they would at least occupy 3 slots under single card situation. And you've to double 3 slots for SLI setup! In conclusion, I guess you've to put up with noise during...

Re: Yate Loons ticking, after years of good use
1. If you try to oil fan's bearing, the thing may recover from ticking symptom. 2. I found Yateloons' quality weren't that consistent among batches. You may need to carefully pick out the best one from a dozen fans. 3. Scythe KAZE MASTER ACE KM02 should be a potent fan controller. That said, I've be...

Re: New xBits 120 mm Fan Roundup, Part I: 1350 RPM or Lower
I'm surpised to learn that Arctic Cooling ARCTIC F12 PWM scored so poorly in Xbitlab's review. I found nothing but good experience with this AC's PWM fan which was very quiet below 800RPM. That said, I'm now using Enermax Magma PWM fan for its better bearing/noise characteristics. Also, Scythe SlipS...

I'd purchase Scythe Mugen 2 if price is more or less the same To average out, in relative terms the Mugen 2 is about +65% more expensive than the CM (and it's about -10% less expensive than the Kama Angle Rev. B). In absolute terms we're talking about 12 euros more. For me, the price difference was...

Re: Best Budget Silent CPU Cooler?
I think the most obvious shortcoming of CM 212+ is its bundled 120mm fan, which is a poor quality fan in terms of acoustics characteristics, and in need of a fan swap if you incline to make the system as quiet as possible. In my opinion, I guess CM's choice of fan was an afterthought after the devel...

Frankly, I'd use a high efficiency 300~400W PSU rather than Pico-160W regardless of Intel or AMD setup for the peace of mind. After all, I don't want to risk the potential of losing valuable data all together! Enermax Modu82 385W or Seasonic Gold 400W seems to be a better fit under your circumstance...

Re: Lots of noise from the cpu cooler
Any decent 120mm fan cooler can crush Intel stock cooler in terms of moise performance. That said, I'd get a cooler with freedom of fan choice like Xigmatek 1283, TrueSpirit, CM 212+ etc as I can replace the fan if I don't like it or it is broken. Just my two cents.

The 2800RPM fan on TX3 is pretty loud by SPCR standard. You may put yourself at the mercy of motherboard's fan control implementation.

I'd purchase X-560 as it's cheaper and has a fan for peace of mind compared to X-400. After all, they both are fanless at low load which negate the benefit/premium of X-400 fanless advantage.

Re: Questions about manual speed control of fans
Frankly, I don't think it's a good idea to control PWM fans using voltage control. Usually, PWM fans respond to DC voltage disproportionally as they are designed to be controled by PWM signal. For example, some PWM fans may stop working below 9V voltage, leaving you little room for PWM fan control.
