The TruePower is a bit quieter than the SmartPower, has tighter regulation of the voltage outputs and has 2 thermally-controlled "fan-only" connectors that normally run at 5V. I believe my motherboard can adjust the fanspeeds itself with its 3pin fan connectors, but I still get the same case fan as...

I'm running a 3.0C + P4P800 on my gaming rig (see "system 2" in my sig) in an SLK3700AMB and it runs perfectly cool. The 3.2C has the same 82W output as the 3.0C so your temps should be very similar to mine. I live in SoCal and it gets into the mid to high 90°F range in my house during the summer/f...

Oh, speaking of things which you can cram a computer into, check out: http://www.mini-itx.com/ To me, the most impressive project is the one where a guy put an entire computer into a (working) ATX PSU. Some of these cases look really cool. The size of my motherboard will limit my choices and so wil...

Ralf, one question - do you think much noise is created from the 92mm L1BX vibrating on the heatsink? Ie. a 80mm w/a silicone grommet could be one solution. I put some silicon strips under my L1BX to see if that would help quiet things down at all and could hear absolutely no difference. oh, and I'...

OK I bought a box of 40 (there's still more). If anyone's interested, I'd be glad to sell them to you at cost + postage - I only need 5 for myself. If you live in the SF Bay Area feel free to arrange to pick it up from me. If MikeC wants one for testing I'd be glad to donate one. If no one takes up...

That looks pretty interesting I must say. How do you get enough cooling though. Air recirculating in that tiny box has to heat up fast. I have also heard that 3gHz+ processors run much hotter. Also, front usb ports, CD Rom drives, and floppy drives all of which i need will be a challenge to maintain...

Also, I'm not really into cutting up the metal inside my case with highly modified stuff. Basically, if I can undo the mod then its OK. Another thing I am wondering about is if the 380 watts will be enough if I upgrade the graphics card to a Geforce FX 5900. I am running 350 watts right now without ...

Quietness Issues

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the large noise problem I have with my new PC. I used to have a Dell 4100 which was only 1 gHz and quiet. Now with my new PC I have to turn it off at night as it is located in my bedroomand is . The Sonata probably looks like the best idea for me. I was w...
