Also, the survey from Backblaze is about consumer drives that they stress in storage pods (warm, vibrating, running 24/7).
Maybe for our "normal" use, we don't "break" the Seagate so easily...

Yeah, I know. It's probably not worth it in terms of money/performance, but like you said, it's pretty cool. So, your first goal is to do full passive? Have a look at the HR-22, tested here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/Thermalright_HR-22 And an extract from the conclusion: The HR-22's d...

Re: josephclemente's SilverStone SG05 MINI ITX + fanless ATX

I am way behind on posting my systems in the forum. I am currently running my main system in an SG05, but air cooled with a smaller SFX Silverstone ST45SF-G power supply. The video card is a Titan and I still have room for an optical drive. In the living room I am running two Node 304 cases. One is...

Re: FedEX damaged my ITX case, time for a new one

I was asking the CPU to have better picture of the installation. I guess with the i3, you are fine without ducting. Especially with these temperature. Some time ago, I was also considering the Node 304 for a recent i3, with HR02. It's comforting to know it goes well with just the back fan. (It's als...

I read all from the beginning but could not find info about your CPU.
What are you using? (Cooled fanless)

It looks so small compared to the HR-02

Do you think some cardboard ducting could help, since your are only using the back fan?
How are the temps with all these drives inside?

I have five hard drives and one SSD in my Node 304. I really cleaned up my wiring by creating my own custom SATA power cable, eliminating excess cable length between each connector. I also went with SATA data cables as short as needed for each drive. Hi Joseph, Will you post a topic for your new bu...

Very nice!

I am no expert on CPU and temps, but looking at what you explain... could there be a problem on your current set up? Not a good heat dissipation? I always read that CPU is not so much used in games, but the GPU. Abula also says that he gest 65°C on games and a max of 85°C with Prime95. He's clearly ...

Re: Best Heatsink, without a budget?

If your choice is first driven by the budget, you should give your max. And try to stick to it. Because for good performance, you will end up with the Mugen 4 or the HR-02 Macho. :-) 20$ Then for few more it's better. Then again for few more it's better performance again. Etc. finishing with buying ...

The first time I measured the real consumption of my computer, I was surprised. And I realized how hard it can be to estimate, just form the components. On my previous build, I had B75M (mATX) with i3-3225, 1 SSD, 2HDDs, 2x 4GB RAM, 180mm front fan at 700rpm. Although my i3 TDP was also 54W, I was d...

Why the aesthetic is driving your choices, if you out it in the cubby, down your table?

As said by Steve, why planning atx if you don't have 4 HDDs and 2 GPU.

You are right, Gigabyte is the easiest for hackintosh. Other motherboard are chosen, among SPCR users (and others), for the extra features they have. Like the extra SATA we talked above. Thanks for the picture.

Did you try a case fan, on the top back, running at 300rpm?
(would you be able to hear it?)

Would this help for the temp?

The temperature you gave is when idle or when low usage.
How is it when you really use your i7?

Thanks for your input. In previous messages, 28 Nov., xan_user has a similar one with one fan or a vertical airflow. Small case also. Maybe it's sufficient. Do you have a bigger CPU than i3? Mine would not generate much heat. Maybe if it's not good, I can later add a case fan at 300rpm. For the ther...

There is no stupid question. Always good to ask. I am planning to run only one fan, from the CPU cooler. To cool down my small CPU (i3-4330), and by the same way, to exhaust warm air from the case. Either putting the fan on the case, if there is enough space, sucking the air through the close cooler...

Yes, it looks just same as the Cooltek. I was thinking like you, to put the drives on the side, for open airflow. There is not much space on the Coolcube, and no mounting on the sides. The Q27 has some mounts, on the front panel (inside), where I can fit the SSD. And could use the extra top space, t...
