ok, on to another topic. i was planning to get the Thermalright XP-90 (regular version) for my SKT 478 P4 (because it's LOUD and overheating), except i don't have enough room for a fan (the XP-90 is 7.5 cm in height-i only have room ofr 8.5 cm tall coolers) Check Silverstone NT03 and NT05, those se...

The one called S12 Energy+, "80Plus" rated, reaching a 88% max efficiency, with 2 models (550W @ 130 € and 650W @ 160 €) ? According to this short news post the fan will spin slowerly than on other S12, so they *should* be quieter. But no test yet. Hmm... I wonder are M12 serie models identical...

Well, for example in this case PSU had been made in last year so buying time doesn't mean so much without knowing how long PSU has been in storage in various stages before purchase.

I just wonder might there be two versions of GameXstreams? Because in some reviews GameXstream has been stated to be enough silent to cause need for checking is fan really running. Also basing to responses in FSP's support forum in Hexus some Epsilons from early production lots had noise problems an...

It's identical to Fortron Epsilon I don't think the fan controller is the same, according to a graph posted in this forum by Oleg Artamonov (from Xbitlabs) the fan in the Gamexstream spins twice as fast as the fan in an S12-500 at all loads. Now what Seasonic has to do with this? :?: Seasonics aren...

Noise level of Seasonics at higher loads?
Now when these new Seasonic models are coming available I was wondering how Seasonics have performed at higher than idle loads? OCZ GameXstream (/FSP Epsilon) I'm now looking as primary option is apparently quite silent up to near 50% loads so I'm wondering how these Seasonic's similarly rated model...

It's identical to Fortron Epsilon and X-Bit labs review stated this from it: This PSU is among the quietest ones ever tested in our labs at loads lower than 300-400W and is definitely quieter than any earlier produced power supply from FSP, except for fan-less ones, of course. THN series PSUs with 1...

My guess is they'll be hogs. The Xbox 360 is not relevent, it's scaled down. The G80 and ATI's next chip will be much more powerful and power hungry. I'm not saying go with the 1000W supplies, but 400W may be pushing it if you ever want to go SLI in the future. But with rising consumptions of comin...

The reason i want to work with a negative voltage is because if i used a positive voltage, i would need to apply it to the chassis, which would be bad. Propably not unless you would touch - wire of 20kV source with other hand at same time. Every AC-transformer works as galvanic decoupler and also m...

Here 's a round-up of 600 and 700W PSU (the S12 Energy+ 650W is one of them). Somehow I'm highly sceptical that the OCZ had 89% efficiency  There's definitely something weird in results... But not so much in that efficiency but between results of OCZ and Fortron because those are identical (e...

You don't need to play with negative voltages for this: I found a DC/DC Converter that would take a standard 12v input and output 20k volts at 4watts. Or do you want to input 24V to it? In fact only important thing would be polarity of its output, which should be electrically insulated from input so...

In all likelyhood, the bigger factor is probably that the Seasonic has APFC and your old PS didn't. I would say that at least 2/3 of difference comes from ActivePFC. If your old PSU would have wasted say half of that difference as heat because of worser efficiency PSU would have been already hot at...

Here's one review of S12-650E+
http://www.pcstats.com/ArtVNL.cfm?articleid=1995&page=1
12V maximum load is 455W (~38A) so looks much like this is very similar to original S12 models.

This is strange. Seasonic M12 has been available here in Sweden for a few weeks. Why not in the States? Same here in Finland, also at least one German shops has M12-models in stock. Also S12E+ models are available here in Finland. Funny thing that Seasonic's website doesn't yet list these models......

FSP probably correctly rates the fan at 38dBa. That's the noise output at 12V, which will be supplied to the fan only rarely. Actually X-Bit lab's review has fan speed diagram and they measured 1500rpm@450W, 1600rpm@500w, 1800@600w and they didn't get it to rise above 2000 even at nearly maximum lo...

Given the height, weight, and weight distribution of the Big Typhoon, I don't see that it's any better/worse than a tower heatsink (in terms of stress on the motherboard). BTW, the Zalman 9500 is a tower heatsink. Zalman is similar to towers but it differs in that aspect that airflow isn't boxed an...

Basing to this it should work quite well with low speed fan:DontMakeMeEatU wrote:I intend on getting the Si-128, but should it use a faster fan or slower fan for better cooling?

(of course high speed fan always rises cooling capability)

Just installed an Epsilon 600 and while the air woosh is pretty silent the fan has some whirring noise that is clearly audible. And on the other hand my current case has thin Alu sides Some thin steel cases I've seen are already so prone for resonances and such that I wouldn't wonder if lighter alu...

Re: Which of these 120mm fans is best
...specifications hint quite strongly towards that, other has quite nice airflow at 1000rpm while Warp model has low airflow. UC12EB: 1000rpm, 44cfm UC-12AEBS: 1000-2400rpm, 26.91-83.49cfm I have both fans. At 1000RPM, they push exactly the same CFM, as the blade assembly is exactly the same (excep...

Re: Which of these 120mm fans is best
I would check out the review over here. http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=421 I've seen that. Basing to it and price difference I think I could discard Papst. But Enermax fan and few others aren't included in there so getting equal picture from all is quite hard. The Enermax UC-12...

Fortron Epsilon or Seasonic M12?
Fortron is definitely very good PSU with efficiency being one of the highest under load and being quite high already at 100W load and has 6 Molex and 6 SATA which would be quite nice amount. Also noise level should be very low up to around half of maximum output power. But apparently Seasonic M12 is...

This cooler has been reviewed and comes within a degree of the ninja in tests I have seen, It has been reviewed similarly on several sites. Do you have links for those reviews, some sites do tests on table instead of inside case. Test in Madshrimps with Papst fan gave identical results for both SI-...

Which of these 120mm fans is best
Which of the 120mm fans in here are good: http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/default.php?cPath=26 Being silent at default voltage isn't required because those tend to run at very low RPM and move very little air and I would prefer something which wouldn't keep much noise at default and could be adj...

In tests inside case SI-120 has worked quite nicely and better than XP-120 http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=12&artpage=1682&articID=406 Also difference to SI-128 shouldn't be ground breaking and with fan at lower speed difference gets slightly smaller which would be logical conside...

Thermalright SI-120 or TT Big Typhoon for low noise cooling
Or maybe Zallman 9500. So which one of these provides best cooling with low noise? I know tower style coolers would be most efficient with low speed fan but unlike reviewers I intend to use motherboard in normal position inside case and for longer time than tests take so stress/torgue caused to moth...
