Totally inadequate. The keyword is surface area; he needs the most he can fit in his case, and then find good pressure quiet fans.quest_for_silence wrote: By the way, IMHO a single 120mm radiator on a 5Ghz 2500K should perform rather poorly (for a water cooling setup).

Re: Best AIO for low pump noise?
The answer is luck. Asetek has poor QC, although it could be improved with their 4th generation (i think nzxt x41/61 are among those). For other OEMs data is even harder to collect. Swiftec H220X has a standard WC pump and so can be undervolted and be silent. Last but not least my H100 pump has alwa...

Re: Recommendation on silent case/form factor w. 3HDD
As far as the 3rd HDD goes, if it's just used once per day as a backup, you might consider an external eSATA enclosure that you can power up/down. This. Or since most of those enclosures are cheap crap, a good hotswap bay will work best. Nobody said an important thing about backup drives: to last l...

What are you waiting to get one, Luca?
I installed my 850HXi today and I believe it stayed fanless all the time so far. It will spin only during hot summer days
I tested the fan with the checker button and it is really quiet btw.

Re: Seasonic G- or X-series?
IF I'd go with the X-650, would the extra amounts of Watts form a problem in any sort of way? On the contrary, it will stay fanless for a higher wattage (about 50% so to about 330W, depends also on ambient/case temp). The tradeoff is a little less efficiency at low power usually around 2-3% compare...

A bit pricy still (the 6 TB drive) and according to the datasheet 1 to 3 TB are the quietest.
I have a pair of 3TB reds and they are as quiet as the greens but should have a longer life without that dumb head parking.

Re: Need PSU/Cooler/Case choose for quiet build
I would consider replacing the 780 FTW with a gtx970 or 980 (MSI, Asus and Gigabyte are among the quietest and best cooled, I would avoid EVGA at this round) depending on your budget and the price you can sell yours. That would fix the main noise source. And I would spend more for the PSU, going for...

Do you need it to be totally passive also when you are gaming? Did you consider closed headphones? There are good ones, not just looking at gaming devices. Re: NZXT Kraken X61 28cm Liquid Cooler
I also think that after so many years Asetek finally did it right and reached the performance of the first CoolIT units (such as the Corsair H100 that I still own and performs great). I would not be surprised if the X61 test better than a H105 Me neither ;) Nor than a 360 AIO such as Swiftech H320 (...

I just saw the review, since I'm looking for a good performance cooler for a friend of mine. Double size (240 and beyond) is r...

A decent kit will still best these all-in-ones by a pretty fair margin. I'm thinking specifically of the Swiftech kits, but there are others available as well (EK, XSPC, etc.). The problem is price of entry, but once you're in, the block, rads, fans and pumps will most likely be compatible with sev...

There's also the issue the cpu will draw more power if it's hotter hence another reason why ambient temperature matters. ... Re: Antec Kühler H20 620 & 920 CPU Water Coolers
Whether the lab ambient is 10C or 30C does not matter a whit -- it is the temperature rise from the ambient that matters. If a HSF on a particular CPU w/ particular load ends up with a 20C rise at 10C ambient, that is the same temp rise you will see when the ambient is 30C. It does. Air coolers are...

In this particular case there are some other fans with better pressure/noise ratio that should come in handy, like Gentle Typhoon and Noctua NF-P12. Cheers Olle Exactly. Mounted the 570 (msi TFIII OC), and I'm pleased. 40° in idle and the noise is definitely less then the old gtx280.
With the new SB setup that i'll do in august, it may become the noisier component and i'll try to mod the fans to 30% min but for now is ok.

Gainward sell specifically quiet gaming cards, in Europe only, under the Phantom and Golde...
