Quite literally, the easiest way of doing this is not an even split, but to have one PSU run the drives, fans, video cards etc, and the other PSU run the CPU & motherboard. If this is unsatisfactory, then you'll have some interesting problems attempting to level things out. What happens when you hav...

Re: ATA over Ethernet (AoE)

With the speed of gigabit ethernet, ATA over Ethernet could even be much faster than a quiet local drive. 1000 Mbps / 8 = 125 MBps SATA = 1.5Gbps SATAII = 3Gbps It doesn't seem all that impressive to me, at least not an improvement. On the flip side though, you could take the "relocate-external-har...

I've no idea how loud or quiet your DVD drive will be. Pioneer is not on my short mental list of quiet optical drives. With respect to your hard drive, a small purchase of stretch magic will allow you to suspend your drive and eliminate drive noise. It's fun to read the posts in the Silent Storage s...

A small correction should be made: Un-mounted Test Motor and bearing noise is minimal, only slightly higher than the D12SM-12 Shouldn't that be D12S...

I don't have the P120, but were it to have a similar noise signature as its predecessors (as reviews seems to indicate), it would be much quieter in general than the 7200.7, which I'm not terribly happy with, even though it sits on foam in my closet. It can tick when at idle, the seek noise is just ...

Mike, your initial post is a little confusing to me. You're suggesting to me that with a PSU like the Seasonic S12-330 (12v1: 8A, 12v2: 14A), that we can interpret this to be essentially 22A @ 12V. This is seems like a dangerous assumption to make. The motherboard is the only place that is supposed ...

They're not really dangerous exactly. It's just that Seasonic cannot guarantee the tolerance rating. Under very high loads, it will not be within 5% (or whatever Seasonic's internal tolerances are) of the voltage.

I have an idea of the epoxy in question, assuming its the one you find in the store in the epoxy sections. IIRC, it says on the packaging to not use it if you need it to conduct electricity. Though I don't know about its other electrical properties.

Hang on a sec, aren't most power systems three phase rather than two phase? If so then connecting across any two 120VAC wires will give 208VAC rather than 240VAC (208 = 120 * sqrt(3) ). The way power systems (in the UK anyway) typically work is that there will be three phases with a 120 degree phas...
