I've just enabled C1E on my undervolted Athlon II x2 240. Power consumption of my rig dropped only 1w idle, from 30-31w to 29-30w. For the moment, no errors or strange behavior.

30w idle athlon II x2 240 rig

I've just finished my new main pc. I use it mainly for office, web browsing/downloading, play music, video encoding, burn dvds, retouch photos. No games. My goal was to have a powerful pc wiht a low power consumption (to "stay green" and save the bills). Previously I had an atom 330 rig but atoms ar...

I don't need another screen for the moment, but in Mexico is possible to buy the Benq Widescreen 18.5" G922HDAL (Led), with (promised) 17w power consumption.

The main problem for Picos is the power brick. It's difficult to find one efficient, powerful and cheap.
I will try a pico 120-wi with a 120w 18.5v brick, that seems enough for my new rig (Athlon II).

Re: More D945GSEJT/M350 information

For those who care, I monitored the temperature of the D945GSEJT in a fanless M350 setup with no HDD. Idle in Ubuntu was roughly 50C. Idle in BIOS setup was 60C (no power saving?). MPrime with 2 threads running a type 2 burn-in max out between 75C and 80C. This is all in a 25C room. All very toasty...

Re: Musings about a fanless PC - will this work?

Originally I was thinking about an Intel D945GSEJT . Seems like a perfect fit - it's a completely fanless ITX sized motherboard, with an option to have a 12V external power supply. I even got a used suitable power supply from a friend (had an opportunity to get one for nearly free). I run a D945GSE...

I think an interesting comparison would be with the 945GSE-based board SPCR reveiwed here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/Intel_D945GSEJT_with_Morex_T1610 The 945GSE uses less power -- but how much faster is the D510M0? this is the point. I have a D945GSEJT rig, that idles at 15w. So, slightly less ...

a good alternative fanless solution is an intel D945GSEJT Atom N270 board in a Morex 350 case. No need for fans because the case has numerous small holes to allow natural airflow. I use it for daily work: office, internet and occasional .avi watch and dvd rip.

I've installed a 9cm gelid silent fan next to the moBo, attached to a fan controller (1200 rpm). Very good fan: almost inaudible (less than 20dba, I suppose), with a good airflow. yes, a 80 w power brick is enough to feed a 90 w picopsu with a 3.5" hdd. I have this system and it works.
Intel atom 330 board with 3.5" hdd + 1 optical drive + picopsu consumes only 32 w idle (peak to 48 w).
