i know mdf is ery acoustically dead, but really make efforts to decouple hard drives and fans from it. You'll see absolutely no cooling boost that most metal cases would give to a directly coupled drive, the only possibility is that it will increase noise. Secondly, have you considered something oth...

greef Anything over 1800W requires a 220v line. Those are usually installed for large applience such as dryers, stoves, air conditioners, supercomputes etc. Regular 110v wont do becasue P=IV i know, moot point cos the guy is in spain. In europe all our mains are that high. NOTE i may be entirely wr...

There are plenty of hard drive benchmarks out there, and if one of you doesnt test it soon, i may well do, as i have suspended my drive. number two - there has been absolutely no evidence saying that cracking knuckles is realted to the onset of arthriti...

A little extreme i know, but perhaps you should look into volt-modding the 9800?

Alongside underclocking it should reduce the heat by a long shot. If you're interested i could try and dig up some links for you.

successfully modded an antec 350W trueblue psu

Well, i've been happily surprised by this one, despite my somewhat half-arsed job. I bought an acrylic PSU cover from ebuyer (99p). That got rid of the 92mm blowhole. I then swapped out the rear 80mm fan for a coolermaster "silence" one that used to be on a cpu sink. I then superglued a bit of extra...

i wouldnt worry about powerdrain from the wall, most home circuits happily run devices with those kind of wattages (3000W electric kettles!) I would think a project like this would need to be designed from the ground up, big, high quality toroidal transformers and the like. I can't see why it should...

has anyone replaced the fan on an arctic cooler?

Well, thread title says it all.

Mine's pretty quiet, but it could be quieter.
Would say, an 80mm papst ducted from the side of the case provide the same pressure as the stock fan?

Just throwing some ideas about.

i installed one on my 9800 non-pro, it was very easy.

With ramsinks fitted and a flash to a new bios, i have it at 420/390, which is beyond XT speeds, and i keep the arctic cooler on it's low setting.

Unfortunately i've heard nothing but bad things about the 120mm acoustifan, all the reviews i've read slate it. So are those titan aluminiums the same motor etc as these? ...

modding an antec trueblue 350watt

it's the one that came with the lanboy, and it's far too loud. There is a 92mm fan at the bottom and an 80mm at the back, both supposedly temperature controlled but still unreasonably loud. I have bought a psu cover with no blowhole, i was considering buying a quiet 80mm fan, making a duct and leavi...

120mm fan of choice in the UK

I wish to buy a couple of 120mm fans for my Lanboy. One is going to be at the back, i will enlarge the 80mm hole, the other is going to replace the hard disc cage. To me this seems to give a good airflow over the cpu and northbridge etc. I'd like to get the quietest fans i can with the highest airfl...

Sounds more like a recipe for making coasters than anything else. In an optical drive the spinning CD and the laser are not that rigidly fixed to each. Sounds like a good idea but won't your optical drives still be secured into the front of your case? Or are you going to cut out the front of the case? If you do cut out the front of the case then that'll mess up and -ve/+ve pressure you're trying to create. I'd have to completely cut out the bay fr...

Suspending the 5.25 bays

Well, it seems that hard drive suspension is the silencing measure of choice - what about the full size devices? So far i've had two ideas. One is to suspend the whole 5.25 drive cage, the other is to simply remove it and suspend the optical drives seperately. I'd have to completely cut out the bay ...

my brother decided to use a left handed dvorak layout, and switches between querty and that quite regularly. He says he's mildly slower with one-handed dvorak, and only uses qwerty for long conversations. About a month after he started using it he was at about 40wpm, it's been a long time since then...
