One question which I had after reading this is, wouldn't be possible to adjust the powerdraw figures for the processor? At least in idle? We do know how much the board draws at idle with 1.5GHz@1.0V and if we got to know the figure for 2.5GHz@stock (not CnQ) we would have all that is needed to use t...

I am beginning to lean towards the conclusion that an Intel chip might be better for this, even though total power of CPU + Motherboard may be a bit higher. Of course, Alpha60's build is a pretty good pointer, but I was also thinking that it is a question of how the power dissipation is spread out i...

Sounds like you're not looking for fanless at all, but just a normal SPCR-like system. Your current system should be cool enough with just large heatsinks and a single controlled fan in the PSU. I'm going for fanless alright:) I allready have an SPCR-like system, this is different:) I built it whil...

Good to see there are some action in this thread:) Maybe I should explain where I am comming from, to give you an idea of what I'm going for. My current rig is an undervolted AMD X2 4200 (Newcastle I think) with a 7600GS gfx. To cool this baby I'm using an nexus modded Zalman 300A and a thoroughly u...

Is fanless possible?
Hello all! It has been a long while now, since I found my Nirvana. But lately I have found myself itching. I want to build a new system, not because I need, not because I want better performance, but simply because I want to build and because I can. And to set out for a new challenge. As I have unde...

KeithT, did you get your problem sorted? after my switch to my new mobo, my wifi dies after aproximately 40-60 mins... doesn't seem to be a question of the puter changing multipliers though... second, I guess I got a nice cpu and all:) at idle with with stock heatsink at 35% ~44C. at load with fan a...

I'd like to nominate Abit KN9SLI for AM2 Passive stock chipsetcooling although the BIOS controll of fans only extends to the 4-pin CPUfan header (and can't controll 3-pin fans) Atleast one of the other three (and I suspect all three) of the 3-pin headers can be controlled via Speedfan Allows undervo...

Well. From experience I can now say nothing. Abit KN9SLI for AM2. The Ugly: ABITEQ. On my Previous board (socket754 with 3rd eye, can't remember it's name, but I bought it 2.5 years ago) it was usefull and had an ok design. Today it may well monitor fanspeeds, voltages and temperature, but it looks ...

Assembled my new system yesterday. I think I hve a Windsor (AMD X2 4200 Socket AM2) on which I've managed the following p-states with CrystalCPUID
200MHz*[email protected]
200MHz*[email protected]
200MHz*[email protected]
So this chip definately goes below 1.1V.

It's important to note though, that regardless what Heatsink you use, your sons room will still be as hot. I wouldn't be surprised if his computer (with PSU losses) puts out 240-300watts of heat into his room. put 4-5 60W lightbulbs together and you will be able to feel how that number translates in...

What is the problem with Abit Motherboards?
I have an Abit motherbord right now for socket 754 that I like very much, but I am planning to change to either AM2 or C2D and need a new one. I have gathered from the forums that Abit might not be the mobo of choice for most and I wonder why? My experience with myGuru is that CrystlCPUID work, that...

Has anyone tested the Asus P5N line of motherboards?
I tried to serarch for it but came up (as good as) blank, so I'm wondering if anyone is using this mobo and if it is possibe to change the voltage and fanspeeds on this mobo? Any testers out there?

Thanks Jaganath! That was exactly what I was looking for:) Most off those tests seemed to be done with CnQ dissabled on the AMD chips though, although that wouldn't change the broader picture. X2 when idle or at low usage and C2D at higher demands and as I am routinely loading my CPU to max for ceve...

I'm more likely to underclock than overclock, though, so I need to know what CPU underclocks the best:) That is, reaches the highest GHz on the lowest voltage:) Does C2Duo or X2 run with the lowest wattage at stock? which can be undervolted the most? Hi, I guess I am one of those few lucky enough to find peace after spending a good two years searching for silence. However, my current setup is closing in on it's three year anniversary and I'm afraid it will not survive until then. My Newcastle A64 2800 @ 1.6GHz can't keep up with the needs of the...

One thing to consider: Can you live with more noise, while your VGA is under load? I do not mean to be disrespectfull or derogatory in any way and I hope you are not offended by this. Have you heard about the silent bug? It's a disease and it is very common on these boards and the symptoms are that...
