Ok, now I am confused. I decided to put my case on the floor to see if there were any differences in sound level, and my case seems to be resonating with the bottom of the desk. When I have the desk between me and the case I hear pulsing again. But then when I move my head so the desk isn't in the w...

So, unfortunately I think my case doesn't have enough airflow. My CPU had been idling at about 32c, but when I left it on all weekend because it doesn't like to come out of standby for some reason and I had company, the CPU started to idle at 40c. So I took the side panel off and a few minutes later...

I've used Razer mice for years (Diamondback and now Copperhead). I have never heard any such whine before, so I assume that means no, they don't have it. I believe the Razer Lachesis has LED control in the software. I am however, not sure if that means that you can just dim them or if you can turn t...

I wasn't actually going to try it, I can't afford a modular PSU much less a new case and new fans and power tools and what all. It just seemed like fun to theorycraft. My guess is that you would seal up the case nice and tight then put air holes on the right panel and raise it off the ground a bit. ...

Passive System with 360mm Case Fan
So, this is probably the product of sleep deprivation, but has anyone ever taken a tower or something and made everything in it fanless then put it on its side and cut open the left panel and put like a 360mm exhaust fan on it as the only active cooling? Maybe undervolt it or something, it seems lik...

Re: First Shot at Quiet Computing.
I'm confused now. I thought you had two monitors and a TV. My thought was that driving a desktop across two monitors was the more demanding task, but if you're only doing 2D stuff on the monitors I can see it. Is that TV 1080X1920 or is it only 768X1366? If it is the later you may need less of a vi...

Re: First Shot at Quiet Computing.
I'd think most of your noise is coming from that Seagate HDD. Suspension will eliminate additive noise from case vibration, but it does nothing for the inherent spinning noise of a HDD. 7200RPM drives make a spin noise that I find very audible -- even the good ones. Given that this Seagate is from ...

First Shot at Quiet Computing.
I guess I should ask the questions first so if you don’t want to read the story: 1) Is there some way to have the motherboard automatically control the fan(s) other than the cpu fan? 2) I’m guessing that much of my remaining noise is from case vibrations, so mass loading is the best solution? Iâ...
