That's not how it works. The fan doesn't disable anything, "Double" +12v sources would still give +12v since the sources are in parallel. I knew I was wrong. So it's like with batteries, I can have two 1.5V dry alkaline batteries give 3V or 1.5V, but last longer. So the same applies here, ok good t...

Have you tried to connect the fans to the PSU directly using Molex connectors WITHOUT your 7V mod? At the same time, connect the fan's RPM data pin to the PWM connector just like you did in your previous test. I doubt it will work, because I think once the fan gets power from Molex it will disable t...

For the same price: 1066Mhz CL5 or 800Mhz CL4 for gaming?
Hi! I am going to replace my current RAM sticks (Kingston ValueRAM, 4x512MB 667Mhz CL5) with high end Kingston HyperX memory (for my new 2009 gaming build). I am going to overclock the whole rig to a new level (got my salary finally, will get a Core 2 Extreme Quad too and a liquid cooling kit). I am...

What about my processor... can I keep it or should I get rid of it? :) YOU SHOULD KEEP IT! Welcome to the E6300 Club (yes I have EXACTLY the same CPU). Why the E6300 and not one of the newer ones? Unless you're buying expensive quad cores or one of the older CPUs from Intel's E6xxx series then stic...

(how often are you doing this?) Often! Not too long ago I exchanged my ASUS P5LD2 in favor of the ASUS P5K WS. Right now I removed my SCSI card and two SCSI disks from my previous RAID configuration to replace with the new SATA disks (WD Raptor). Just recently my PSU changed to the Nexus NX-8040 mo...

Oversized Delete key = fail. Most Logitech keyboards have an "oversized" Delete key. I find it actually really nice, cause it's possible to just slam the Delete button if you're really in the mood to free up HDD space :D I think it's just a question of habits. I think I could put in my experience a...

I also think PWM fans are becoming increasingly useful. That's very true. I have built my PC myself with non-stock components and find my PC very good, but my sister had bought a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo a while back and it has a very good feature that keeps me just wondering; on startup all fans spi...

Call me an audiophile if you like or the grand master of sound cards, I started the thread "Sound cards: when and why you need them" too. Now to your problem. PCI Express sound cards are fairly new, but a handful of them are available already. Many companies do tend to make cheap versions of their o...

Electrical tape is fine, and it provides insulation so it is certainly safe. But I don't know of any electrical tape that does not leave a stickey mess when you take it off. My thoughts exactly. All the different types of electrical tape I have ever used left sticky stuff on the wires afterwards. I...

Cable management... is electrical tape good?
Hi! I have used electrical tape rarely but find it nice because it doesn't leave the surface sticky once removed like other tape types. For cable management one could use zip ties, but that's just about it: they are "use once" solutions and if I need to route same cables differently I need to go and...

Linux guy: Take a look at the motherboard from the top: http://img.hexus.net/v2/internationalevents/cebit2008/TS/Thursday/D945G1-big.jpg The space for a CPU cooler looks VERY limited. I am not sure if it would even hold a ZALMAN CNPS-7000. And if it did, it would be a tight fit. The best for such sy...

PWM fans in 3-pin socket, possible?
Hi! I couldn't find this information anywhere, but PWM fans are getting a bit more popular now so I thought they were similar to 3-pin fans with better dynamics or something. So I put an order on a Nexus PWM fan and now I understood that the 4-pin connector is not Molex but similar to that of the CP...

Hi!
What's more important to you, that your components run cooler or that your environment is warmer, but still at a safe temp gaining silence?

Looks like it could fit a ZALMAN CNPS-7000 but it would be a VERY tight fit. I think the best would be to look for a much smaller northbridge heatsink. Preferably copper as it will do a good or even better job than the current aluminium and no warranty lost. Then you could easily fit in a cooler lik...

Heh the benefit of VMix is that you can change individual stream levels. True. Almost forgot due to the problems with OSS ;) envy24control is awesome in that monitoring any signal coming in and out is very easy. funny that you mention that Super Flower case. I hate spendin...
