Re: Most impressive future game I ever saw

I forgot to mention that weather is also procedural, clouds are volumetric and world is streamed so no loading. The technology and tools they are using are definitely more advanced than in any current game. All they have to do now is produce content with it. What we can say now is that no other game...

Most impressive future game I ever saw

Watch this video and listen to everything he says. It is like a dream come true, everything procedural, animation, lighting, physics. Can you imagine the scope and intricacy of gameplay with a simulated world? How come this game was not mentioned anywhere? They should have gotten at least 2 million...

Best movie of 2012

Name just one movie you thought was most memorable and watched it multiple times but no spoilers...for me it was definitely The Cabin in the Woods.

Re: Merry Christmas

You don't need the belief in the Bible to celebrate or enjoy a day about peace, kindness, family, and friends. You just need to be human and have feelings. The problem with this is that jesus-cultists hijack basic human emotions and pretend they have something to do with their pet superstition. Thr...

Our first troll in the thread, that was quick. Well, Merry Christmas troll. :) How is pointing out the bizarre nonsense of Christmass and it's underlying silly superstition of magic god-man, virgin birth, magic tricks and resurrection constitute being a troll? You do realize there is zero evidence ...

That is very misleading if people pay far more than they need to based on these calculators.

Is this PSU calculator completely wrong?

It's official ASUS calculator and it has exact components listed under every category but I'm pretty sure it is way off, for example:
i5 3570k, 4HDD, 4fans, GTX680, DVD-rom gives a minimum of 700W!

Shouldn't that be more like 500 for a single GPU?
Bear in mind that most PSUs are 650.

Re: Life Sucks

This topic is almost identical to my thinking while I was in high school. Bottom line, it's useless and pathetic. Either you kill yourself or you don't. If you set in motion an action to actually kill yourself but can't because you feel a visceral block(I called it biological imperative) most likely...

Re: Biggest buyer's remorse ever

PS. The activation force difference was a surprise to me too with Sensei vs Kana. Sensei is what I thought all mice were and have been thus far (and I've tried quite a few), which leads me to believe there was only one switch type for a long time, and only now are there alternatives. This should be...

Re: Biggest buyer's remorse ever

PS. This is why you always, ALWAYS compare first, then make the final decision. What do you mean, there isn't a single store in which you can try a mouse before you buy it and reviews are obviously completely useless. The only way I could have avoided(or not be surprised) this or anything li...

Useful fan list

You might wanna take a look at this . Some manufacturers are not present, like Corsair with its latest lineup so post if you think they are better. Also there is a huge difference in what kind of noise fan produces so even if it technically is quieter it could be completely inadequate for anything c...

Yeah, it seems Logitech is the way to go if they established this standard in the manufacturing process.
Deviating from a certain brand always bites me in the ass, like with motherboards and GPUs.

Biggest buyer's remorse ever

I just bought a mouse 4 times more expensive(laser Genius) than my previous one, which I researched and waited 2 weeks for, only to find that you have to press many times harder for both right and left click. I don't know if you realize but this means tremendous loss of productivity in everything yo...

its interesting that ~80% of us "rationalists" went to college. no wonder the religious nut jobs always want to cut school funding. Yes, that is a well known correlation for almost a century now. But not only that, the more economic stability and social safety also less religiosity. It is all thoro...

Re: Ideal storage?

Is it true that because WD green are low power drives which spin down when idle thus causing RAID controllers to mislabel them as dead when they cannot get data off of them? I also heard that green drives are more reliable because they have only 1 or 2 platters, improved heads and low spin, but the...

I use a flight case (the one I have isn't available anymore, but there are similar ones around still . Re: Ideal storage?

There's one aspect where all that drive extending stuff doesn't matter: How do you backup? RAID is not the solution, RAID is meant to grant smooth 24/7 operation with some extra speed or redundancy, but that does not replace the need for a backup. This is backup, if one drive fails you know about i...

If you planning on using Windows 8, research Windows 8 storage spaces, i havent tried it yet, but to what i have read, seems it will allow you, like windows home server v1 did, to unite all drives into a big storage drive, you can also de duplicate folders/files to have them on multiple drives in c...

Re: Ideal storage?

How are you going to do a RAID 10 with only 3 drives? What do you mean, SSD is the 4th drive.. Simulating duplex printing?

I'm looking for a multifunctional printer under 100 dollars but I was wondering if all printers have software that simulates duplex printing(basically it sets to print every other page then you move the paper upside down so it finishes the other pages). If not, how would one find if a printer softwa...
