SATA wasn't an option for me since the Shuttle AN35N doesn't support SATA natively. To me it's not worth it to go SATA unless you have a Raptor, and god knows they aren't silent  Would you be willing to go up in capacity, or do you really want a single platter? ------ Edit: Sorry for not res...

eXcaliberPC.com will hand pick Samsung drives for you. However, they don't have the 80GB 8MB cache version. IDE Drives: http://www.excaliberpc.com/default.php?cPath=180_571&sort=1a&filter_id=19 On the other hand, they do have the Serial ATA version. I assume you want the 80MB version because it is o...

Re: It is an excellent case, though not perfect
Hello Kevin: I really like the Evercase -- I've built four systems with it, and two with the Antec BQE. I have a couple of comments, and some thoughts on your questions. The model numbers indicate what type of from ports (USB, audio, Firewire), and possibly what accessories come with the case: some...

If I was building a new PC I would off course start with a well ventilated case. The PC60 use to house a P3 1.4S with none of this silly heat problem, once I upgraded I found I had build a slow cooker . Using the best cooler did not help, as the case temperature rise so the effectiveness of the coo...

Difference in Evercase 4252 models
On newegg, I see a number of different Evercase 4252 models, however, I'm not sure of the exact meaning of the model number differences. I found some information here: http://www.evercase.com/newsite/2product/index4252.htm For example, the black model is 4252B However, I can't tell the difference be...

I would stronly recommend that you avoid an Intel Celeron processor. They are much slower than a Pentuim 4. Based on what I've seen on anandtech.com, an Athlon XP 1700+, an AMD Duron 1.6Ghz, and a Pentium 4 1.8Ghz are all faster than a Celeron 2.6 Ghz in most cases. On anandtech's website, the only...

Kevin Ar18 - WELCOME TO SPCR!!! (btw, does the "Ar18" have anything to do with Armalite?) You seem to be saying you'd go for up to $150 for each component? If so, that gives you a fairly large selection to choose from. If it's $150 for both, you're still in the ballpark. But first, about those grom...

A fairly quite case and power supply (w/ front vents)?
I've been able to figure out what to get for all the other components in my system. However, when it comes to a case and power supply, I'm not sure where to go. There's no specifications on size and looks (like there is with the speed of components). I don't want to make the case and power supply co...
