Not true. The benefit of SATA 3.0 is limited as hard drives remain the norm, and they don't come close to hitting even 2.0 speeds except in short bursts. To really take advantage of the increased bandwidth of 3.0, you need high-end solid state drives or a RAID configuration.

Good luck with it. I decided to buy a passive GPU because I didn't want to void the warranty, a Powercolor ATI HD 5750, that is fine on Idle (~30-35ºC) but it gets very hot when playing (55-60-65ºC) so I have to at least raise the middle bottom 180cm fan of the Raven-02 to High for it to stay und...

Voltage hurts and amps kill. Think about it. I've been hit w/ a stun gun, 40,000 volts. But hey, not much current. Meanwhile, 1 amp in the right place can kill you. I think unplugging the power cord and pressing the power button a few times is the best way. Also, Sometimes if you really want to tes...

since i won't be using those disks 99% of the time the noise won't disturb me even if you're not accessing then, they still make noise. Just spinning alone, (no seek noise) can be very much audible on some drives. When I installed my second drive, the two started producing "hummmm......hummmmmm" so...

Religion is the perfect scam. Preachers are selling the promise of life after death. The cost of goods sold is zero, the proceeds are tax exempt and the dead cannot demand a refund when the afterlife fails to materialize. People are easily victimized partly because the fear of death is very strong....

I don't believe that religious nutjobs are the serious problem the OP paints. Certainly not christianity; the protestant reformation and the age of enlightenment knocked most of the rough edges off christianity quite a few centuries ago. Yeah right. Are you serious ? What about all those crazy abor...

Re: Woops. Thermalright Ultra 120 xtreme - which way to fan?
Since the P183 has those funky grill holes at the top rear of the case...do you think I should switch the fan orientation and have it blow from top -> bottom? (I am going to remove the top-mounted fan anyway, since it's too noisy). That configuration should give you lower CPU temps then bottom->top...

Needed a new case and PSU, so got myself a P183 with the CP-850. All very nice. Spent a few hours today moving everything over to the new case. Switched it on and itgot stuck on the POST screen. Hmmm... Reset it, started ok but the rear system fan wasn't moving. Switched off, opened it up, everythi...

Have a look at Lancool and in particular the PC-K10 . The Lancool series are built around a SECC steel structure and so should have less vibration noise than Lian Li's all-aluminum cases. By the way, Lancool is a subsidiary of Lian Li. :) I'm having a hard time myself deciding between the P182 and ...

Thanks for the help so far! Yes, I need to handle electricity bills, but for that reason the build will utilize an Intel Xeon Low Voltage CPU (hopefully). Replace the thermal paste they used with your own premium one, and do a good job putting it on. Then undervolt the fan with a custom made inline resistor :) Voids warranty though, maybe. Re: Help! Fan swap seems to have killed PSU
S N I P I'm at an absolute loss as to how this can have happened. Disharge PSU, open case, cut fan wires, replace fan, close PSU. It's not rocket science. Have you doubblechecked that some part of PSU cover does not touch wires or heatsinks or any other part of main PCB. Now I am asuming that PSU c...

Shuttle XS29--> No fans and Via CPU.
Shuttle is about to launch a new line of Via based PCs. They do look very interesting for HTPC/surf. Their XS29 is completely fanless, so no noise there besides HD noise ofcourse.

I cannot believe that a file management tool keeps you on Windows. I presume therefore that this does constitute a significant amount of work you do on your computer - thus I would suggest you spend an afternoon or two looking into shell scripting (zsh/bash please, the other stuff makes you insane)...
